The Forest Theatre is one of (if not) the best of Thessaloniki. It is a big open theatre situated on the middle of the forest of Seich Sou (hence the name). It is a great experience to watch a summer concert or a theatrical show there. In Greece, there's a beautiful "tradition" we have, as soon as the calendar marks June, we start searching for outdoor events in every open theatre close to us. And we are never disappointed, for artists and theatrical companies start touring the country. However, if you are not lucky enough to catch an event in this theatre, don't worry! It IS after all in the forest, and the forest is quite higher that the rest of the city. So, the view is magnificent and ..

This is not a "natural" forest! The forest of Sheikh Sou is one of the few cases where human intervention has created a green oasis! Its name means the "Sheik's water", and was named at the time of occupation by the Turks.

The Sou , called and Kedrinos hill is suburban forest of Thessaloniki stretching in the southern and southwestern slopes of Chortiatis up the road Eptapyrgiou - Asvestoxori . It is the city's lung and recreation of its inhabitants. The name translates to Sheikh water came from the tap was a Muslim funerary monument ( türbe ) , the ruins of which still exists in the location Thousand Trees.
