The New York Times calls this restaurant "dinner and a show." It's also been referred to as where D.C. goes to hold court. The food is also fantastic. We like the Insalata J.J., Capellini Ann Hand, and Tagliatelle Zegna, though anything you order here will be delicious. You’ll usually need a reservations on weekends, but on weeknights you can sometimes grab a table or walk up to the bar.

Every town, no matter its size, has a bar or restaurant where the powerful gather to hold court. Washington has Cafe Milano. It has been a destination for high-ranking members of media and of governments around the world since it opened in November 1992, on the same day Bill Clinton, now a Cafe Milano regular, was first elected president. It is a place where diners can enjoy relative privacy as they dine on grilled calamari and velvety burrata. It is also the exact sort of establishment that President Trump might have disparaged as a candidate, when he emphasized that his leadership would mean that the cozy bonds forged among the capital’s elite would be broken.

Cafe Milano is one of DCs most well established Italian restaurants. A favourite for Washington insiders who socialize here in its relative privacy. The food is excellent, the wine list outstanding and the service is first-class.

Classy place for lunch or dinner with white table cloth and immaculate service. Used to be THE place to be seen in DC, but a lot less crowded these days. Still a gem.
