Insa is a Korean barbecue restaurant in Gowanus from chef Sohui Kim and her husband, Ben Schneider (who designed the space). The pair also owns The Good Fork, in Red Hook. The menu offers distinctive takes on the traditional Korean fare of Kim's ancestry — think soondae (blood sausage), fried chicken, and kimchi fried rice with bacon and fried egg. And then there's the bbq. Words to the wise: come with a group, order everything, then head to one of the restaurant's karaoke rooms to work it off.

Korean BBQ, noodles & other staples served in a casual, warm environment with private karaoke rooms.
Fantastic Korean food - check out the main dining room for Korean BBQ, or - for a more intimate vibe - enjoy bibimbap and other classic dishes at the bar. Reserve some time at the karaoke rooms in the back!
Excellent cocktails, modern Korean bbq... And karaoke! Book a room after dinner and sing your favorite '80s song.
Quirky bar, and a full Korean restaurant. Great food and even better atmosphere. The Korean fried chicken is a must-order.

“If you like beer, then Strong Rope should be on the list. One of the best beers around, and the place has a very chilled Brooklyn vibe to it. You can bring your own food.”
