This Ferry Service has stop its services till further notice. Currently it is replaced with Penang Fast Ferry (only for passengers, no more for vehicle). please refer to Penang Fast Ferry for more details. Penang state include an island and mainland which is similar to Hong Kong if you would like to imagine how it is. Island and mainland of Penang are connected with two (2) bridges and also Ferry service (passengers, bikes and cars). This is a must to try if you are visiting Penang to experience the Ferry ride here while enjoying the magnificent view of the island and mainland, also the Penang 1st beidge

Penang Ferry Service began its operations in 1920, making it the oldest ferry service in Malaysia. These iconic ferries ply between the Sultan Abdul Halim ferry terminal in Butterworth on the mainland to Raja Tun Uda ferry terminal at Weld Quay in George Town on the island. The 15 minute ferry ride allows visitors to enjoy the spectacular view of Penang. The ferries are designed for vehicles to roll-on/roll-off on the lower deck while pedestrian passengers are boarded on the upper deck. The benches for passengers on the upper decks have pivoting backs that can be flipped back & forth so passengers can sit facing in the direction of travel regardless of which way the ferry is going.
