Well worth the trip to the truely epic Rainbow Falls, either take a stroll along the rivers edge by parking at the Stone Store, or drive right to the falls themselves.

A must do visit to Rainbow Falls. A 4.3km walk (about an hour) one way starting at the Rainbow Falls car park and ending up at the Kerikeri Basin where one will find parking and picnicking areas. A short easy and beautiful walk through native bush. There are three viewing platforms at the top of Rainbow Falls. There is a historic weir that supplied the first electrical power to the early Kerikeri township and the remnants of the hydro-electric station are still visible. An information panel is situated at the rest area. Dogs are not permitted on the walking track. Ensure your vehicle is locked and any valuables are out of sight before leaving for your walk.

The Rainbow Falls walking track enables great views of Rainbow Falls. Access the track from the Kerikeri basin/Stone Store. Its an easy bush walk on a natural track (around 3km approximately). Wear comfortable footwear like trainers, or supportive sandals.

If you park up at Rainbow falls Rd and walk down to the stone store it takes about half an hour. You can have morning tea or lunch at the Honeypot cafe or the Plough & Feather, look around the gardens and the Store and then do the walk back up to where you’ve parked at Rainbow falls.

A short easy track to a beautiful waterfall that catches the sun and makes beautiful rainbows.
