For people that want to go further afield! A great day out with the kids a mini Blackpool. Take a stroll along the promenade, grab some chips or a candy floss

Great Yarmouth beach has a dual personality - arriving from Stalham or Sea Palling, turning left past the Greyhound racing stadium will bring you to the marramy, wild sands where the offshore wind turbines make it even more appealing. You can walk dogs over this rough terrain and they love it. It's also less frequented than the golden sands further along. Continuing in the car (or by foot) you will reach these golden sands, then the pier, the Pleasure Beach and all the cafes, restaurants, amusement arcades which you associate with Great Yarmouth's Golden Mile. The only thing you can't go to, sadly, is the 'Worst Waxworks in the World' which stood opposite Rosie O'Grady's - it shut its doors for good in 2012 when the owners became ill when the entire collection were sold to a mystery buyer in the Czech Republic.

30 miles away. North Beach is a glorious sandy beach to the north of the seafront and Britannia Pier. Wide sand dunes, perfect for dog walking at any time of year, leading to a quiet, wide sandy beach facing towards Scroby Sands Wind Farm. Central Beach is a glorious sandy beach between Britannia and Wellington Piers adjacent to Marine Parade. Full of activities for the kids and with the promenade running alongside with its range of shops, cafe's and ice-cream vendors it makes the ideal place for the family. South Beach is to the south of Wellington Pier and the Pleasure Beach. The wide sandy dog-friendly beach with its grassy sand dunes is ideal for families who want a quieter stretch of beach while still being close to all of the attractions and amenities provided on Marine Parade.

The town itself is on a 3.1-mile (5.0 km) spit of land between the North Sea and River Yare. It features historic rows of houses in narrow streets and a main tourist sector on the seafront. It is linked to Gorleston, Cobholm and Southtown by Haven Bridge and to the A47 and A149 by Breydon Bridge. Great Yarmouth is 24 minutes away by car (8.8 miles)
