Beautiful hike for the whole family. Least amount of effort for the best views of beautiful lakes, waterfall and a look out over Canmore. Recommend doing this hike mid week, or evenings as it tends to get busy

The Grassi Lakes Trail is a stunning nature and landscape experience located in an important Wildlife Corridor. Travel in this area is sometimes restricted to designated trails only for the protection of natural habitat, animals, and hikers. Please remain on designated trails at all times, and obey signage which may take users away from this verified route at times. Each member of a hiking group should carry bear spray, as bears are often spotted in this area as they move throughout the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Alberta government now charges a daily use fee for "the K Country" so be sure not to overlook it.

The town of Canmore is both the gateway to Banff National Park and an access point to Kananaskis Country. As a result there is an unbelievable amount of truly exceptional hiking within an hour’s drive. I’ve tried to showcase Canmore hikes that offer views within a short distance of the town, with most about a 15 – 20 minute drive away. The hike to the Sparrowhawk Tarns is the exception. Many of these Canmore hikes can be done beginning early in spring. Ha Ling in particular can get very busy even in March, depending on the year and snow cover. Always go prepared for a change in weather and don’t forget the bear spray.
