The largest wooden structure in Sakai, the current main hall was rebuilt in 1825. It served as the offices of the Sakai prefectural government for a period of 10 years starting in 1871 and is also known as the "Northern Temple." 3 minutes walk from Hankai Line Shinmeicho station. Shinmeicho station is 5 minutes ride from Abikomichi station which is 12 minutes walk from here. 13 mminutes walk from Nankai Koya Line Sakaihigashi station. Sakaihigashi station is 5 minutes ride from Abikomae station which is 4minutes walk from here.

為市內最大木造建築，亦稱為「北之御坊」，西元1825年重建現在的正殿。明治4年（西元1871年）廢藩置縣後，十年間為當時堺之縣廳，之後歸還淨土真宗本願寺派，作為舊堺縣廳遺址，現為大阪府指定史蹟。鐘樓之梵鐘擁有1617年之鑄造銘，是由堺奉行（政務官）為了在大坂夏之陣燒毀的念佛寺所重新鑄造之物，後於明治時代初期移至堺別院。該梵鐘不僅為堺的復興紀念象徵資料，歷史更是市內最為悠久，是堺市指定之有形文化財。
