Pleasant beach on Cap Ferrat, with views across the Rade de Villefrance
St Jean – Cap – Ferrat, being on a northeast-facing shore and at the base of some tall cliffs, this beach is the
most protected from winds and has less sun in the afternoons. The location is about a 5–10 minutes’ walk from the port. From the Port, walk south and up the road past La Voile d’Or; straight past the hotel Brise Marine, to the junction of Ave Claude Vignon; left, towards “Chapelle St. Hospice”, for about 300 m.

The “Iles de Lérins” are a small archipelago just off the coast of Cannes. The archipelago has the two main islands of Sainte-Marguerite and Saint-Honorat .

Spectacular lighting at night. Access on foot from OId Nice and Place Garibaldi, in an Art-Deco lift or by steps (‘escalier Lesage’) at the end of Quai des États-Unis or on the Little Tourist Train

A 50 m high monument to the power of Rome and the glory of Augustus. Now only 35 m high and half in ruin, it’s still an imposing monument over 2,000 years after it was built. In 13 bc, during the reign of Augustus. The Romans planned a new coast road into Gaul (Provence). This road became the Via Julia Augustus (or Via Julia, later to merge into the Aurelian Way that was built 150 years later). Augustus used this route to conquer the Ligurians and bring the Pax Romain to Provence. This was not only a strategic site, it was also the highest point on the long Roman road into Gaul and marked the gateway bewtween Italy and the Roman conquests of Gaul.

The Romans planned a new coast road into Gaul (Provence). This road became the Via Julia Augustus (or Via Julia, later to merge into the Aurelian Way that was built 150 years later). Augustus used this route to conquer the Ligurians and bring the Pax Romain to Provence. This was not only a strategic site, it was also the highest point on the long Roman road into Gaul and marked the gateway bewtween Italy and the Roman conquests of Gaul.
This famous promenade along the beach in Nice is a lovely place to walk in the evenings.
