When I am in town, this is my home away from home! You will find it busy at certain times, but the wait is never too long, and it is worth it! Find a nook to read in, get a pastry and share with a friend or enjoy the patio during the nicer weather! Favorites include: Shatto Mocha, ANY of their toasts and my favorite, the Club Sandwich (and ask for it with an egg and their chipotle mayo- yum!)

You are in Kansas City, you have to eat BBQ! My favorite is Joe's KC, formally Oklahoma Joe's. Visit the closer Olathe location or the original, located in a gas station (yes, a gas station) for the true experience. Both are great and if you can, go on a day they serve burnt ends (Monday's and Saturdays at lunch and Wednesday for dinner), a KC favorite.

Sightseeing
The World War 1 museum is great and a favorite of visitors. But my favorite thing is to go after nightfall and see the KC skyline from the top! You avoid the crowds and get to see the city at night, simply beautiful!

Want to experience Christmas, but inside??? Check out the Union Station during the holidays. Tall Christmas trees and giant wreaths combined with the beautiful historic building gets you in the holiday mood! Grab a Parisi coffee and walk around! The history of the train station is interesting too, follow the signs and do a self guided tour. Parking in the garage is $1 for the first hour and 2 hours for $3. You can also check out the currant exhibit they have.
