Notchtop is a generous supporter of local groups. They are only open until 3pm and offer some great breakfast items. Honestly, we have not been there for lunch yet, but love the breakfast and the atmosphere. They are a popular local spot.

Joe and the kids aren't much for ethnic food, but we promise this is a local favorite, and Sara can confirm it is consistently good. The location is great! We love the little Riverside Park seating.

Kind is an Estes Park original, locally roasted, fair trade coffee shop. We love that it sits right on the riverwalk. Anna recommends the chai shake. There is a Starbucks just a block away, but you didn't come all this way for a Starbucks.

The Rock Inn has live music most nights. They have a great happy hour special on draft beer, and an open bluegrass jam on Thursdays. Nothing is more authentic than that for a trip to the mountains. And the food is pretty good too.

Smokin' Dave's is on our top three list. But be warned that it is extremely popular and extremely busy. We would suggest ordering to go and sitting in a nice park to enjoy your meal. We will also let you in on a little secret, he has a restaurant in Lyons about 20 minutes down the hill that is usually much less crowded, and Lyons is a great little town to visit.

If you are looking for a nice$$ meal, The Dunraven is a local go-to. We will go ahead and confess that we never spend more then $13 a plate when we go out so we have never been there, but we only here good things about it.

This is an Estes Park icon, and frankly the fluffiest donuts at 7,000 feet. But, don't dalley! They do sell out early.

This is a new addition to town, but we enjoy the atmosphere and they brew some pretty decent beer too. It hadn't gotten to tourist busy last year, but no promises people haven't discovered it this summer.

Honestly, we don't have any huge love for the Stanley. But we recognize what an iconic place it is for a town this size. They do have a coffee shop, gift shop, pricey restaurant, and they offer ghost tours we believe. We would say it is worth a stop in, if you like history or Stephen King.

I (Sara) love to kayak. Because the convience allows me to get my boat on the water several times a week, you will often find me paddeling lake Estes. At the marina you can rent kayaks, pedal boats, canoes, bikes, fishing equipment, and pontoon boats. You can't go wrong spending a few hours on a mountain lake. If you have never kayaked, it is much easier then you might think.

This place offers bumper boats, go karts, and lots of things, but we can only confirm that it is the most fun mini-golf corse in town. For the better go kart track, head to Fun City.

Essentials
We have a severe lack of practical stores in this tourist driven town. Your main choice for groceries is Safeway. It will be crowded, and the shelves picked over! Just go with a good bit of patience and that in mind. Remember if you get frustrated, some of us live with the problem all the time. If you do not have a Safeway in your area, we have provided a card you can take along with our club card number on it. This will allow you to get the ad prices without having to go through the hassle of signing up for your own card that you may never use. It does give us gas reward points, so it seems like a win-win.

Getting Around
People tend to think that Estes has a parking problem. Frankly, there is only a few times in a year that we can't find a parking spot at the visitor's center. From there you can connect to the riverwalk and stroll through all of downtown. If you are not us for walking, they offer trolleys that leave from there to verious parts of town. You can even catch a hiking shuttle into RMNP from the visitor center.
