Parks & Nature
At the Southern edge of downtown stretches the lovely Lady Bird Lake. Along the edge runs a Hike and Bike Trail. It provides the perfect path for walking, running, or bicycling year-round. If you prefer a more hands on approach, consider renting paddle boards or canoes to explore the area at greater length. For lovebirds, there are even swan-shaped peddle boats available!

West of Austin lies Lake Travis which has many spots for swimming and recreation. There is a beautiful spot called The Oasis famous for it’s lovely sunsets. The abundant, terraced patios make up for the mediocre food. They often have musical acts and special events along with a top floor Brewery that also sports an amazing view of the lake.
With nearly 11 miles of hiking trails, Enchanted Rock State Natural Area is a fabulous place to visit. You can hike, backpack, camp, rock climb, picnic, bird watch, geocache and stargaze. Many other state parks are a short drive from Austin and all allow many opportunities for various recreational activities.

You can hike, backpack, camp, rock climb, picnic, bird watch, geocache and stargaze. There is a wide selection of drinks and beer always available with both inside and outside seating everywhere. Just a fun place to visit and enjoy the vibrant Austin nightlife!

The Lyndon Baines Johnson Library & Museum commemorates the life of our nation’s 36th president. It does a good job balancing Johnson’s good and bad qualities, but come for the period-appropriate displays explaining what history remembers from this time period. It’s worth the trip for both it’s historical and informative exhibits.
