The garden was established in close proximity to the Carmelite monastery after 1348 and was used to grow useful plants. Since 1604 the monastery has been used by the Franciscans, who have impressed the baroque style with the garden and built a Baroque chapel in the central part.
The park is made up of several paved paths that run around regularly edged hedges, fruit trees, herb gardens and climbing rooftops. The quiet atmosphere is complemented by sculptural works such as the Boy with a Musketeer or the Feast and the Poletuchy. Children will surely appreciate the playground.

It led from Žitná Street to Poříčí. In 1884 the park was extended according to the design of the garden architect Franz Joseph Thomayer. Major changes occurred with the construction of the railway station in 1972-77 and the North-South highway.
In the park you will find, from 1916, the monument of naturalist Jan Svatopluk Presl, a replica of the Sbrurní sculpture, a wooden cubist tobacco store from the 1920s or a statue of the President of the United States Woodrow Wilson.
