Urbisaglia (24.5km) - Urbs Salvia was one of the largest cities of the Piceno people and a Roman colony. Today Urbisaglia is a small town overlooking the valley of Fiastra. Urbisaglia is steeped in history and within its archaeological park there is Roman Amphitheatre now used for concerts and festivals. In the historical centre, the museum provides an overview of the Roman civilization in the area. There is also an amazing fortress, built between the thirteenth and fifteenth century

Urbisaglia (24.5km) - Urbs Salvia was one of the largest cities of the Piceno people and a Roman colony. Today Urbisaglia is a small town overlooking the valley of Fiastra. Urbisaglia is steeped in history and within its archaeological park there is Roman Amphitheatre now used for concerts and festivals. In the historical centre, the museum provides an overview of the Roman civilization in the area. There is also an amazing fortress, built between the thirteenth and fifteenth century
Sarnano (8.5km) is the nearest town, known as one of the gateways to the Sibillini Mountains and is a buzzing place in both summer but also in the winter when it becomes a popular ski base for the little resorts of Sassotetto and Pintura di Bolognola. The Castrum Sarnani festival is held annually in the historic centre of Sarnano and sees the town transformed into a medieval antiques market and everyone dressed in period costumes. It’s a wonderful event for tourists and locals alike with the chance to watch medieval jousting and festivities in the main piazza.

CYCLING, there are lots of beautiful villages to cycle to and Gualdo is an ideal destination for those keen road cyclist who like long hills averaging 5% to 7% grade and want a beautiful hilltop village to stop and have some cake and a coffee. Suggested bike rental firm.

Seaside resorts at Civitanova Marche, Lido di Fermo, Porto San Giorgio are all within 45 minutes drive. Plenty of others line the coastline, some more suited to children and others are more typical family beaches. Usually busy during July and August but great for the kids with play parks and games areas. The sand here is wonderful but further north some of the beaches are very pretty but with pebbles.
