One of the better (best?) restaurants in the area. Prices aren't cheap, and you'll need to book ahead, but the food and service are a cut above compared to the other restaurants in the area.

Best coffee in town. They don't do much other than coffee and a small selection of pastries and muffins, but the coffee is worth making the effort for.

If you like craft beer, this is probably the best option in the area. Over 35 taps of beer brewed locally (there are two separate breweries on the premises) and from around New Zealand. They offer good bar food but nothing too fancy. They also have live music acts playing a lot of the time. There is an open space outside that the kids can play in.

107 Newton StIf you like craft beer, this is probably the best option in the area. Over 35 taps of beer brewed locally (there are two separate breweries on the premises) and from around New Zealand. They offer good bar food but nothing too fancy. They also have live music acts playing a lot of the time. There is an open space outside that the kids can play in.
Sightseeing
Mauao, also known locally as the Mount, is the best place to get a 360 degree view of the the area. On a stunning day, it is hard to beat. It's a bit of a trek to get to the top (if you're fit and move fast you could do it in 20 minutes) but it is well worth it for the view.

This is the nearest supermarket to the apartment. It isn't big, and it's not the cheapest, but it's the easiest to get to and there is plenty of parking underneath. It takes around 12 minutes to walk there from the apartment.

Paper Plane are great for unusual gifts and other desirable objects. It's a beautiful store, and it's become a bit of a destination for people visiting. Worth a look as part of a walk along the what is commonly known as Main Street.
