Very Highly rated Indian Restaurant close to Toowong Village Some reviews: As a regular they make me feel welcomed and not too ashamed for ordering here multiple times a week sometimes. The food is delicious and consistent and the restaurant is always busy. The staff are incredibly polite and make my manners look lacklustre in comparison. Long term regular, usually get the takeaway but have dined in a few times as well. Best curry I've had in Brisbane, the spinach and cheese naan breads are to die for, especially combined with a spicy lamb vindaloo if you can handle the heat! Great variety of dishes from mild to super spicy, including tasty vegetarian options. http://www.anightinindia.com.au/

Possibly one of the Highest ranked cafe in Toowong it is a local favourite! The Corner Store Café is conveniently situated on the cycle path that links the Coronation Drive river route to the Western Freeway. This is a review from a customer/blogger: It is 10am on a cold Tuesday morning and the Corner Store Café in Toowong is packed with customers. The sun is glowing, rugs have been dotted across the patio adding to the cosiness, and hearty breakfasts are being served around me. I am not even a local so why do I keep on coming back? The Corner Store Café has feel-good factor. It is stylish but relaxed, not overdone but with the touches that make you feel at home: the cushions on the benches outside, the rugs on cold mornings, the retro enamel water jugs. The coffee is good, the biccies huge and the breakfasts popular. Crowds on the weekend are a testament to the Corner Store's success. If you want to enjoy a variety of culture, food and street performances then this is the place to go! Hop on the ferry and head upstream towards UQ and get off at West End ferry terminal. You want to walk up Hoogley Street, follow the road around onto Dornoch Terrace and turn left onto Boundary Street. You will then walk up Boundary Street for about 3-5 minutes and you will arrive at the very popular Boundary Street Markets. (recommend going on a Friday night) The walk should take no longer than 15 minutes.

Sightseeing

Drive, catch a bus or hike to Mount Coot-Tha and enjoy the view of the CBD and surrounding areas. Mount Coot-Tha lookout hosts a cafe and ice creamery, perfect for morning tea, or brunch! Explore the secret Bush Chapel! The bush chapel dates back to an outdoor chapel maintained built by US servicemen stationed on Mt Coot-tha during WWII. In fact the road up to Mt Coot-tha and the JC Slaughter Falls Picnic Area were built by during WWII. There is not much remaining of the army base other than a concrete slab used for some of the picnic tables, the entrance to an old underground ammo dump and the Bush Chapel. The Bush Chapel lies up a little bitumen path from the JC Slaughter Falls Picnic area where it is generally ignored by everyone who goes to that area. This makes it a lovely spot to walk up to and relax even when the picnic area is packed. More Info on the Bush Chapel: http://www.weekendnotes.com/brisbane-secret-bush-spots/?wns=1

Everything Else

South Bank attracts a lot of people for a lot of different reasons. Certainly it is the most fun park in Brisbane and certainly the only one where there are numerous takeaway shops in the park and even more restaurants and cafes right next door. In the park you can do everything from ride the Wheel of Brisbane, swim at Streets Beach, go on a Segway tour, jump on a river cruise or let your kids loose on the new kids play area or fountains.

The Walrus Club is located downstairs at Brisbane's iconic Regatta Hotel. And when I say downstairs, I mean subterranean. The only external sign of the club's existence is a walrus stamped on a wall next to a doorway and a bouncer standing vigilantly by. I have heard that bouncers here strictly police the 'snappy' dress code, so be warned. I'm not sure whether it was our classy elegance or our (comparatively) advanced age that did the trick but we were admitted without any trouble and made our way through the inconspicuous doorway and down the dimly lit stairs to the Aladdin's Cave below to join our offspring.

Fortitude Valley is a contradiction in itself – raw, yet sophisticated. It is where elegance and style meet grungy and offbeat, and heritage-listed properties proudly stand among contemporary buildings. The Valley, as it is affectionately known, was Australia’s first dedicated entertainment district and continues to be a hive of activity. Live music thrives and international DJs are drawn to the clubs and chic bars. The impressive Chinatown Mall is a hub of exotic Chinese supermarkets and restaurants. The Emporium complex channels a European village feel, James St showcases Australian fashion labels and Brunswick St is home to multicultural dining options.

Parks & Nature

The new gardens officially opened on Sunday, May 17 2016 so now on any day of the week you can wander to your heart's content. You can make your way around the café through to the old lagoon, where the beautiful water lilies are starting to show shades of purple and the water fowl squawk noisily at each other as you saunter by. You will find the new entrance on the other side of the old lagoon. More Info: http://www.weekendnotes.com/brisbane-botanical-gardens/

Access Via Brisbane City Cat or Bus. Wouldn't recommend driving as tricky to find a park. The Kangaroo Point cliffs include a park on the top of the cliffs and parklands down by the river. There are artworks all along the lower path, up at the top of the cliffs and even in the river itself. These artworks are all part of the Art and the River public art trail with information published by the Brisbane City Council.
