One and a half hours drive South of Rancho Mirando can be a great day trip. Be sure to double check park entry hours before you go. Its a nice drive South and some good restaurants in Quepos, just before the park.

Wonderful Tour into the Mangroves close to Quepos. See lot of monkeys here! Only 1 and 1/2 hours drive from Rancho Mirando, so makes a good day trip. You will also be likely to see monkeys at Rancho Mirando, but not as many or as guaranteed as you will on the monkey tour into the mangroves.

Wonderful Tour into the Mangroves close to Quepos. See lot of monkeys here! Only 1 and 1/2 hours drive from Rancho Mirando, so makes a good day trip. You will also be likely to see monkeys at Rancho Mirando, but not as many or as guaranteed as you will on the monkey tour into the mangroves.
This is a small beach, safe for swimming, located within the Punta Leona Private Community. Years ago the gov deemed that Punta Leona could not keep this public beach private. So now guests are allowed to enter through the front gate to go to the beach. Another entry is to take the road to the right after you pass the entry to Punta Leona....just stay on the road and you will get to a very nice beach, off the beaten path. About 25 minutes from Rancho Mirando.

Located in the town of Tarcoles, aprox 20 minutes from Rancho Mirando. Highly recommended for the best crocodile river tours in the area. Early morning tours are recommended especially in the rainy season.

Park at the Peri Mercado parking lot and pay for your space by a small purchase at the mercado. Visit the meat market on the corner, all free range. Rest in the Central Park and people watch.

There are numerous dining options at Los Suenos. One of our favorites is at the marina, "Dolce Vita"....great for breakfast, lunch or dinner...outside cafe with gourmet dining selections. We frequently have lunch here.
