This wonderfully eccentric inn is situated on the edge of a huge deer park in the grounds of the Gunton Estate (about 10 minutes’ drive on the road to North Walsham). Owned by art dealer Ivor Braka, it’s worth a visit simply for the location, the fabulous modern art, well-kept local ales and great bar snacks. But this is also a place for a fabulous meal, particularly memorable if you like meat, offal, local produce - some from the estate - and seafood, in uniquely interesting dining rooms and served with panache by knowledgeable and friendly staff. The food is excellent, using local produce in season. They try hard to make this a very appealing venue and it pays off – well worth a visit. Book for lunch or dinner.

You will be greeted and offered a drink on arrival in the bar where you can look at their menu. The menu changes with the seasons and often has local offerings. The food is good quality and service is very personal. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. Booking advisable.

It will take about half an hour to reach The Foundry Arms and if you go on a Sunday there’s live music from about 4pm. The food here is better than average pub grub and you will receive a warm welcome from Sarah the owner, and easily fall into conversation with the regulars, some of whom live in Overstrand.

Church StreetIf you fancy a walk inland, then strolling over the hills to Northrepps is a great way to spend some time. It will take about half an hour to reach The Foundry Arms and if you go on a Sunday there’s live music from about 4pm. The food here is better than average pub grub and you will receive a warm welcome from Sarah the owner, and easily fall into conversation with the regulars, some of whom live in Overstrand.
Characterful family run pub close to the pier with a separate and impressive restaurant in the courtyard. Recommended for a drink or better than average meal. Gets popular in the summer season so booking recommended.

It is run by a Sikh family from London who pride themselves on fresh ingredients and often have fish on the menu. If you want fish you are advised to request this at the time of booking.

The White Horse is the main village pub which has a bar and restaurant. Booking is advisable. The food is of good quality but we and our guests have, on occasion, experienced fairly long waits for our meals particularly when they are busy.

Serves breakfast and lunches with great views of the sea which is at the end of Paul’s Lane. Uses local ingredients and in particular the famous Cromer Crabs which are fresh everyday from the local Crab Shack just a few yards away. Really friendly service and a dog friendly cafe.
