If you have your own car a trip to Glenorchy is a must! A 40 minute scenic drive along Lake Whakatipu is truly stunning. If you have the time the Routeburn track is one of New Zealand 'great walks'. You can walk in an hour and be lost in nature, have lunch and turn around. If you have a few days do the whole 32km hike right into Fiorldand national park
