Montevago is located in the Western Coast of Agrigento. The city was established by Don Rutilo Xirotta in 1636, thanks the royal edict Licentia Populandi. Populated by small landowners and farmers, Montevago is set in a stunning natural context, and today is one of the bigger vineyard in Sicily. Like many towns in Valle del Belice, Montevago suffered destructive force of the earthquake of 1968. People abandoned original site to rebuilt elsewhere a new city. The ruins of told city become a must-see visit. Near Montevago, there are two archeological areas worth a visit: in the district of Caliata there are the remains of an Arab farmhouse and in the Mastroagostino di
