The Nozawa Onsen Olympic Park was host to the Biathlon in the 1998 Olympics and has a world class cross country course and gym training facility open to the public in the summer. Minambara Park next to the lower parking lot has a big open grassy area surrounded by Cherry blossom trees with a fountain and next to a ravine that kids can enjoy exploring. The outdoor tennis courts are a great facility available by reservation from the village office 0269-85-3111 as well as the soccer fields at the upper park.

Minambara Park next to the lower parking lot has a big open grassy area surrounded by Cherry blossom trees with a fountain and next to a ravine that kids can enjoy exploring. The outdoor tennis courts are a great facility available by reservation from the village office 0269-85-3111 as well as the soccer fields at the upper park.
Hikage Bowl Area is the main play area for kids in the winter and summer. Sledding/tubing and snow toys and indoor play area for very small kids. In the summer, zipline and play area are opening with grass ski from next year. Great starting point for some simple hikes and mountain biking too.

KURA cafe and Art Museum shows off some local art and an amazing piece done by Taro Okamoto when he lived in the village. Next to Visitor Center - Traditional warehouse building renovated nicely. Olympic memorials at the entrance.

It is not published but there are some amazing works of art in the Village Hall building and neighboring Recreation Hall. These are public buildings feel free to go in and enjoy the foyers, sitting areas, the art around these areas and halls, and the library in the Recreation Hall building. This is the station on the slow life local Iiyama line. It is an awesome experience, you can go to Nagano or to Tokamachi in Niigata, meandering along the Chikuma River amazing views in all seasons.
