Food Scene

One of my favorite places to eat…anywhere! A true Italian family, poppa does the cooking while momma runs the kitchen and bakes, and how she can bake! The family moved from Chicago in the 1960’s and opened the restaurant in 1966. Their daughter Patricia waits tables and is a gem, while her brother Paul also helps. You cannot go wrong with anything here! Don’t let the exterior fool you, it’s the food that counts.

Established in 1943 for the protection of migratory birds, Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge happens to be positioned along an east-west and north-south juncture of two major migratory routes for many species of birds. It is also at the northern-most point for many species whose range extends south into Central and South America. The refuge is right in the middle of all this biological diversity, which is what makes this 2,088 acre parcel the ‘jewel of the National Wildlife Refuge System.’ Though small in size, Santa Ana offers visitors an opportunity to see birds, butterflies and many other species not found anywhere else in the United States beyond deep South Texas. 3325 Green Jay, Alamo, TX. Getting to the Lake House

Exit at International Boulevard/FM 1015 and travel south for approximately 5.5 miles. There will be a fork in the road at about the 4.3 mile mark, stay to the left. Do not even think of driving above the posted speed limit here! At Highway 281 there is a stop light with a Stripes Convenience/Gas store on the corner. Turn west (right). The first stoplight is Lakeway Drive, turn left. Follow Lakeway until it dead ends. Go left onto Moon Lake Drive South. Round the long curve, we are the navy blue house with white shutters and a yellow front door.
