Sightseeing
Ramsey lake is in the heart of Sudbury. It has scenic views. Views can be seen by walking the boardwalk near Science North and along the lake's paved pathway (see my recommendation on Science North) . Other views can be scene by walking thru some of our Laurentian Nature Trails (see my recommendation on Laurentian Nature Trails).
We have two beaches on this lake and yes it is swimmable aside from the odd time of blue algae (signs would be posted as this is regulated and tested).
One beach is Bell Park. It is situated along the paved pathway mentioned above. There is parking across the street from the amphitheater.
The other beach is Moonlight Beach. This is situated off of Falconbridge and right on Moonlight street. Cross the intersection and keep going straight, cross the rail road tracks and you'll see massive parking. You can see the beach from the parking. They have Volleyball courts, kids playpark. The beach is supervised with trained Lifeguards for the majority of the day.
Science North is along the lake as well.

Porketta Bingo is a BIG THING in Sudbury. For those who do not know, we play bingo with cards and tokens (bring change or something that will cover the cards as they will call out random cards). You get awarded with the ABSOLUTE BEST PORKETTA YOU'VE EVER HAD. It is absolutely mouth watering.
This is a very localized tradition with humour that may be offensive to some. Please be prepared for foul language in good fun. This is definitely among my top 10 things to do in Sudbury, it is a good "day drunk" activity.

Great atmosphere, casual dining great food. I'd recommend any steak :)
They also have some sort of Fried Cauliflower that is surprisingly delicious.

Fun stuff in the summer and winter. Trails galore for biking, skiing, skating.
They have fat bike rentals during the winter.
You absolutely have to skate the lit path thru the birch trees. It is absolutely amazing.

Although I don't recommend our ski hill to avid shredders. This is a great hill to learn or test new equipment.
There is nightly skiing which gives a great view of the city all lit up.
