Appreciate a good burger? Well, you need to head to the Surf Shack for possibly the BEST burger in New Zealand (they do great coffee, too!). Run by the fabulous Pip and Jo, the Surf Shack oozes a cool, laidback beach vibe. They also give back a huge amount to the local community; they offer free coffees to people working in emergency services, and support Canteen’s CanSurf Waihī Beach Summer Camp. Every time someone orders a Ha-Waihī Surf Burger, the Surf Shack will donate a dollar to the charity. The eatery also feeds the kids for free during their annual CanSurf Waihī Beach Summer Camp visit.

The main attraction is the HAURAKI RAIL TRAIL. This cycle pathway runs from Paeroa to Waihi and conveniently runs along the bottom of our doorstep, which means you can cycle either way.
The route to Paeroa takes in the dramatic scenery of the gorge with it's waterfalls and rapids and of course the tunnels and bridges.

State Highway 2The main attraction is the HAURAKI RAIL TRAIL. This cycle pathway runs from Paeroa to Waihi and conveniently runs along the bottom of our doorstep, which means you can cycle either way.
The route to Paeroa takes in the dramatic scenery of the gorge with it's waterfalls and rapids and of course the tunnels and bridges.

Experience a section of what used to be known as the East Coast Main Trunk Line which stretched from Auckland to Taneatua south of Te Puke. Enjoy an area rich in history, including historic goldmining which shaped much of this part of the Southern Coromandel.
Have a break at Waikino Station with a hot or cold drink and a Devonshire scone. Alternatively take time to visit the gorge and historic sites, then return to Waihi on a later train.
