Neighbourhoods

Our neighborhood is lush green, very residential and calm, full of parks for kids, and a beautiful long walkaway on the Sava river. Here you can eat delicious fresh burek at Piterija Ivo like the locals do( Mon-Sat, till 3pm) Treat yourself with top Adriatic fish at Restoran Primošten or the best beef tartare in Madera-just next door, they both do daily menu also. Or my favourite, have one of the best barbecue in the whole city at Tvornica Pljeskavica Kosta(closed Sundays) For cheap homemade food try Saga-by šta si jeo, they have daily menu( closed on weekends) Across Savska street Kukuriku bakery for sweet and delicious pastry. If you feel like chilling there if a great cafe Egoist next door, where they also do burgers and breakfast. Namaste restaurant for vegeterians and Indian food lovers. Or if you feel like day pubs/night clubs Vintage and Bikers Beer Factory are across the road. You also have an awesome beer shop with beer on tap, Goblet, and a Gin garden in a walking distance. In 15 minutes time the tram can take you to the city centar, lines No 14, 17 or 4, while sightseeing along the way. Tram tickets for half na hour drive can be bought at the driver inside the tram. We are very conveniently located for those traveling by car also, after crossing the Jadranski bridge you will be at the main highway in no time, plus we also offer free parking next to our building. You will definitely love the location of this neighbourhood in so many ways.

Sightseeing

For sightseeing Take a tram number 14 or 17, -from our tram stop get off at 6th stop and you will be at Croatian national theatre when you cross the road on your right, mUsic academy on your left, such an architectural contrast. If you have the time try Museum of Illusions close by- not to big but very entertaining! Walk to Mesnička Street and enter Grič tunnel, a maze of underground tunnels in Zagreb built during World War I, during the war against Serbia it was a shelter for the People in the city Center. Take the exit out of the tunnels at Tomićeva Street. Down at the corner of Tomićeva and Ilica street you'll find great ice cream, Vincek. Up Tomićeva, take Zagreb funicular to the upper town, you will exit in front of Lotrscak Tower, every day at the top of the Tower a Canon strikes noon, so if you can, be there to experience it. Take the Strossmayer promenade to your right when you exit the funicular, at the end you'll have a beautiful view over old town, and the cathedral.  Go up the stairs toward Gradec plateau and walk to St Marks church one of the oldest monuments in Zagreb, its roof has the coat of arms of Zagreb (white castle on red background) and tribune kingdom od Croatia Dalmatia and Slavonia. Museum of broken relationships is close by, totally recommendable if you have the time, it went worldwide and started Here in Zagreb. Then visit Stone gate, with a chapel, and the only item they found intact in a huge fire 1731, the painting od St. Mary.  The oldest pharmacy in Zagreb is on the right just before the gate, super retro, try grozđana mast for cracked lips! From Radićeva Street you can walk down to Tkalčićeva street, through Bloody Bridge. The bridge gained its name because of the constant conflicts happening on its wooden beams between the citizens of the two parts of Zagreb: Gradec and present day Kaptol. Tkalčićeva street, known as Tkalča, crowded with locals and tourist, lots of cafes. At Skalinska street, just first one on the right, there is a restaurant called Nocturno, cheap, quick, ok food.  Also La Štruk to BE recommended, local food štrukli. From Skalinska you can walk to the cathedral, on your way is Dolac market- you can stop for some souvenires, eat burek and yogurt like the locals do at Burek and make a full circle of the center of Zagreb from the cathedral down to the main city square of Ban Josip Jelačić and further down to Tomislav square. Nice parks Zrinjevac and Stros along the way. From the main square you can take tram 14 and 17, back home or better walk down Praska street towards railway station (Tomislav square), and then take tram number 4.  Our tram stop is Prisavlje!  Lake Jarun is also quite close, if you like, try walking to Sava river from our apartment and then take the promenade on your right. Great for enjoying some sun. If you go to the left when you get up the Sava walkaway, you will soon reach Boćarski dom, huge park for kids. 30 more minutes walking in that direction will get you to the Museum of contemporary art, MSU. If you prefer to go by car, free parking for three hours is available in the Avenue mall garage, just across the street. If you feel Like going to Mount Sljeme, from Gracani you can either hike, drive by car or take one of the most expensive Cable car in Europe built by our former mayor. It is pretty but totally unnecessary expensive. You have restaurants at the top, from where you can enjoy nature, hike, and ski at winter time from 08th of January on. They have night skiing also, usually Tuesdays and Thursdays, but check before. You can also hike from Šestine to Medvedgrad castle, a beautiful medieval city, closed on Mondays. Or take the easier trail to Kraljicin zdenac next to a nice small creek Kraljevac with local food at Lugareva kućica at the end(closed Mondays also) This is totaly recommendable too if you are into nature. enjoy Zagreb ;)
