Many Moonshiners are still around the valley. The valley is 3000 feet and surrounding mountains 6000 ft plus. Makes for cool nights and great days. Entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway is on Soco Road. Also, an entrance to Smokeys National Park off Soco. Cataloochee Elk Preserve just down the road.
