Ilfracombe has a bit of everything. Beautiful coastal walks, North Devons biggest harbour and some beautiful nearby coves to explore. We'd recommend a boat trip, or boat safari to enjoy this beautiful coastline, or visit to the seals. Lundy island is also just a short ferry ride away.

Instow is the polar opposite to the surf beaches in North Devon. It’s where the Torridge river meets the Taw estuary. There is no surf - it’s very calm! A long sandy beach with plenty of cafes and restaurants. On the other side of the estuary you can see Appledore and that’s worth a visit as well. It’s where the famous shipyard is.

Situated in Shebbear this pub does great food and drink and lovely hosts. Dogs are welcome with a spacious beer garden out the back. Good stop off on the way to or from Dartmoor

This pub is on the northern edge of Dartmoor. It has a great garden out the back of the weather is good. Belstone is a short drive away and the walk down to the river from the village is well worth doing. Mind the free range sheep!

Castle Hill is the home of Lord and Lady Arran who own the Fortescue Estate. Illers Leary was a very small part of the estate until we bought it from them in 2020. The main house that you see in the pictures is now used mainly for wedding functions. For a small charge you can walk around the grounds of the house and enjoy a picnic or there is a cafe at the entrance. From the ruins of a castle at the top of the estate you can see Dartmoor and Exmoor on a clear day. It is a 5 minute drive from us.

A short 45 minute drive away, or scenic rail ride from Barnstaple will take you to this beautiful city. The Cathedral, array of eateries and shops will keep even the hardiest of city goers busy.

One not to miss. A picturesque and ancient fishing village on the North Devon shore. The steep, narrow cobbled main street with traditional architecture takes you down to the harbour. Plenty of cafes and pubs on the way down (and back). It’s very steep and cobbled so wear sensible footwear! Well worth the entrance fee in our opinion!

One not to miss. A picturesque and ancient fishing village on the North Devon shore. The steep, narrow cobbled main street with traditional architecture takes you down to the harbour. A lovely market town with artisan shops. Try the pannier market on a Thursday or Saturday between 9-1.
