Vast and fascinating even for people like me who have minimal interest in such things. We spent several mesmerised hours there climbing in and out of giant tanks and absorbing the history and displays. We watched their tank maneuvers with humorous commentary and enjoyed tea and cake at the café

Lovely walks nearby along the cliff or more inland if you don't like heights! Loads of wild flowers and rare birds. Good café at the castle. Interesting exhibits are sometimes on view in the art gallery - check on line. Car parking at the castle has to be paid for but it is possible to park at a greater distance and walk to the castle. Look at local maps or ask for advice

There are lots of lovely walks around Studland. It is quite wild with lots of dunes. There is even a naturists beach if you get fed up with wearing clothes! You can park at the national trust Studland car park for free if you are a member of the NT otherwise you pay or on the road from the ferry to Studland for free (but quite a long walk). Nice national trust café near the NT car park.

Beach RoadThere are lots of lovely walks around Studland. It is quite wild with lots of dunes. There is even a naturists beach if you get fed up with wearing clothes! You can park at the national trust Studland car park for free if you are a member of the NT otherwise you pay or on the road from the ferry to Studland for free (but quite a long walk). Nice national trust café near the NT car park.

Another good reason to visit Swanage. Many different cakes on display and also excellent savoury food as well. Their toasted cheese sandwiches are delicious and generous and their hot chocolate is worth shouting about in the colder months.

I love this place. A fabulous garden to look around (about £6 entry) and an excellent garden centre with plants and gifts and a wonderful café that looks out over a beautiful lake. What more do any of us want?!! The food is good and it is lovely to sit by the lake in good weather or indoors drinking coffee or hot chocolate if it is a bit colder. About 25 minute drive from our house. You can carry on to Kimmerage or Swanage if you want more of a day out

Holme for Gardens
I love this place. A fabulous garden to look around (about £6 entry) and an excellent garden centre with plants and gifts and a wonderful café that looks out over a beautiful lake. What more do any of us want?!! The food is good and it is lovely to sit by the lake in good weather or indoors drinking coffee or hot chocolate if it is a bit colder. About 25 minute drive from our house. You can carry on to Kimmerage or Swanage if you want more of a day out
