We were born and bred in Nowra and love everything this area has to offer.
Below are some attractions and activities that we think you may like including things for friends, families, nature lovers, art enthusiasts, sport lovers and kids!
However, if this doesn't hit the mark, let us know what you area after and we'll try to give some suggestions.
We highly recommend the Bomaderry Creek Walking Track for its sheer beauty, tranquility and diversity.
It is our all time favourite bush walk in the Shoalhaven. And it is just 5 minutes away.
While the main large loop takes fit people an hour and involves hills, creek crossings, stairs - and a small ladder! - there are some shorter and flatter walks to a picnic area and lovely lookouts.

151 North StreetHead to this wonderful playground in Berry (just 10-15 minutes away) with the kids - you'll enjoy it as much as they do.
Stop for a a snack or brunch at one of the many lovely cafes in Berry.
Then stroll along Queen Street and browse the lovely shops.

Bens Walk is one of the best walks in Nowra. The walk loops around the Shoalhaven River and up Nowra Creek, through its gorges, forests and grassy shores.
The walk begins at the Nowra Showground where you can see an elevated views of the river and mountains from Hanging Rock.

Jervis Bay is beautiful and only 30 minutes away. There are SO many beaches.
On the Huskisson side, we like strolling to the nearby beaches or cycling or skating or walking along the Huskisson to Vincentia cycle/walk way past all the amazing beaches.
For sheer beauty and white sand not too far away, we also love Greenfields in Vincentia and Hyams Beach a bit further around.
In the Booderee National Park are the famous Greenpatch, Murrays Beach, Caves Beach and so many more.
Huskisson Beach
Jervis Bay is beautiful and only 30 minutes away. There are SO many beaches.
On the Huskisson side, we like strolling to the nearby beaches or cycling or skating or walking along the Huskisson to Vincentia cycle/walk way past all the amazing beaches.
For sheer beauty and white sand not too far away, we also love Greenfields in Vincentia and Hyams Beach a bit further around.

If you want to find out about Nowra history, head to the old Police station in Nowra and talk to the volunteers, including Wendy's father, Brian Forrester, who is often there on a Sunday. He would welcome the opportunity to tell you about the area.

Heritage home in Nowra. Apart from the the fact that Wendy's mum boarded here with the Miss McGregors in the 1950s (and got in trouble for hanging her stockings over the balcony), Meroogal is a local heritage home well worth a visit.
Loved and maintained by four generations of women from one local family, Meroogal has barely changed since it was built in the late 1880's. The house still contains many of their treasured belongings, and the garden is lovely. Check it out.

35 West StHeritage home in Nowra. Apart from the the fact that Wendy's mum boarded here with the Miss McGregors in the 1950s (and got in trouble for hanging her stockings over the balcony), Meroogal is a local heritage home well worth a visit.
Loved and maintained by four generations of women from one local family, Meroogal has barely changed since it was built in the late 1880's. The house still contains many of their treasured belongings, and the garden is lovely. Check it out.
Food, Coffee and Wine Scene
If you are after a nice restaurant with a good vibe close by, Nowra has 'Ponte', 5 minutes away on the south side of the bridge.
It offers great tapas and also rotating meal options.
You can also just head in for a drink.
It is on the more expensive side for Nowra but not overly priced in our opinion.

DRIVE BERRY TO KANGAROO VALLEY VIA CAMBEWARRA LOOKOUT
This beautiful scenic drive (State Tourist Drive 7) starts from Berry and takes Kangaroo Valley Road out of town. The road winds up Berry Mountain through beautiful bush with glimpses of wonderful views over the surrounding countryside.
Once over the escarpment, the road winds down into Kangaroo Valley, where you can enjoy a meal or picnic before your return drive.
Stop off at the Cambewarra Lookout on the way through for breathtaking views along the coastline.

Check out some nearby local breweries and distillers in the Shoalhaven including Old Salt and Husky Brewing (South Nowra), Jervis Bay Brewing and Flamin' Galah (Huskisson) and South Yeast Brewing (North Nowra)

Aside from the Silos Estate above, there are many other beautiful wineries in the area including Cambewarra Estate, Crooked River Estate in Gerringong, Mountain Ridge Estate in Shoalhaven Heads and further south is Cuppitt's Estate in Ulladulla.
