One of the oldest pubs in this part of London and very much a feature of life in Belsize Park. It has just recently completed a controversial renovation which has left it with much improved food (modern British gastro) but with a loss of some of its old character. Still very much worth a visit and a great place to while away a few hours with a pint of ale and a good book.

Sir Richard Steele Pub and Dining

It's now very nice and does a good line in Italian food and brews its own beer on-site. It is not as well known as its famous neighbour across the road (the Sir Richard Steele) but possibly a bit 'friendlier'.

It's also mentioned in Bram Stoker's Dracula and by Dickens. It's a great place for Sunday roast or a pint after walking on the Heath. But, beware, it gets busy at weekends...

Famous, and very old, coaching inn. Notorious 18th century highwayman, Dick Turpin , allegedly boozed here before embarking on his wayward exploits. It's also mentioned in Bram Stoker's Dracula and by Dickens. It's a great place for Sunday roast or a pint after walking on the Heath. But, beware, it gets busy at weekends...
Possibly the nicest pub in this part of London. Tucked away on a quiet side-street in beautiful Hampstead Village. The beer is good, the bar-staff are friendly, and the location is beautiful. You can't ask for more.

The 'other' pub in this part of Steele's Village. It's changed ownership a few times recently but is currently set up as a traditional pub with decent food and a range of, mostly, craft beers. It also has a really nice outdoor space

Food Scene
Easily one of the best restaurants in Belsize Park. Proper, well-made Italian with interesting ingredients and a menu which regularly adds new items. The Veal Ravioli is sensational.

Old school fish and chips and possibly the best available between Hampstead and Camden. It's a bit pricey for what it is but definitely worth a try.

North London has a perhaps deserved reputation for dull food - too many wealthy bankers with lots of money and no taste around here - but Bradley's is doing a good job of fighting back. The menu is an interesting take on modern European and is well executed. It's a great place to go before one of the the nearby theatres. Or any other time.

The menu is an interesting take on modern European and is well executed. It's a great place to go before one of the the nearby theatres. Or any other time.
Small, and unremarkable looking, place that does some of the best Sichuan in London. The menu is all plastic laminate and it is pretty basic inside but the food is sensational and a real antidote to the hordes of fast-food places further down Finchley Rd
