Best pub scene with a great food truck (South G Kitchen). This is just 1/2 a mile down G Street headed away from town - right across from the Arcata Marsh. An afternoon of bird watching and beautiful hikes, followed by a great local brew and a Smash Burger!

550 S G StBest pub scene with a great food truck (South G Kitchen). This is just 1/2 a mile down G Street headed away from town - right across from the Arcata Marsh. An afternoon of bird watching and beautiful hikes, followed by a great local brew and a Smash Burger!
This is the BEST sandwich shop. Tiny little place with lots of great choices. Grab a couple sandwiches and some drinks on your way to the beach. It's three blocks up G Street.

This is a casual place to have a drink, sit around a fire pit, and get some food. It also has this huge expanse of pavement for your kids to scooter around on while you watch them with a beer in your hand.

Walk two blocks south on G Street and turn right into the Arcata Marsh. Great trails around several ponds. Lots of birds. Maybe you'll spot the otters. The trails are good for kids on scooters, or just for strolling. The Interpretive Center has cool exhibits and a gift shop.

Farmer's Markets are here on Saturdays! Walk straight up G Street five blocks to get there. It's surrounded by really great shops: Yogurt, Jitterbean, toy store, thrift shop, and a couple of really nice gift stores. Brio Cafe sits on the corner. Great outdoor seating.

Home of Crabs Baseball and the Crab Grass Band. This is really great, small-town baseball! Try to go on a night the band is there. Local beer, good ballpark food, kids section. Wear layers and bring a blanket as it gets cold after dark.

This beach is easy to access, has a river running through it, and a cool cave to the far right. If you bring a boat, paddle up river around the corner and watch for the otters. Good fishing up the river as well. If you drive north on the coast road from Moonstone to the town of Trinidad, every wide spot in the road is another great beach:)

This beach is easy to access, has a river running through it, and a cool cave to the far right. If you bring a boat, paddle up river around the corner and watch for the otters. Good fishing up the river as well. If you drive north on the coast road from Moonstone to the town of Trinidad, every wide spot in the road is another great beach:)
At really low tide you can get to the cave on the ocean side of the big rock. Also, look for the shelf tidepools and the maze of tunnels/caves on your left as soon as you come down the trail. Lots of surfers come here. At really low tide you can walk south and find lots of little pocket beaches and a waterfall. Watch the tide!

Houda Point Beach/Camel Rock
At really low tide you can get to the cave on the ocean side of the big rock. Also, look for the shelf tidepools and the maze of tunnels/caves on your left as soon as you come down the trail. Lots of surfers come here. At really low tide you can walk south and find lots of little pocket beaches and a waterfall. Watch the tide!
