Historic Interest
Walmer Castle and Gardens are a wonderful English Heritage gem, and fascinating for visitors of all ages. The interior is beautiful and packed with local history. Once you've explored the house and gardens, you can picnic in the grounds or eat at the cafe. We have even enjoyed sheltering under the trees in the pouring rain! It's entertaining, lovely, and highly recommended

This is such an interesting castle, and only a short walk from the house. It is billed by English Heritage as 'one of the finest artillery castles in England'. Henry VIII ordered it to be built as a defence when he was concerned about the security of his realm. There is masses to look at!

Castle Hill RoadDover Castle is dazzling! There are over 80 acres of castle grounds to explore, and this magnificent, ancient fortress has secret wartime tunnels, film footage, and special effects. There is so much to look at that you may need to set aside a day. They have even recreated a WWI Signalling Station. It is well worth a visit
