I would highly recommend a trip to HSW. It is not only walking distance, it is Brisbane's newest large scale food and drinks venue. It is suitable for families, couples or singles and has a number of places to eat, drink (Mr Percivals & Felons highly recommended) and socialise - as well as offering amazing views of the river, the city and the Story Bridge.

Relaxing or running around, this is a great place for meeting up, taking kids, sharing a quiet moment, having a picnic etc. Great kids park attached! Really great on any day you have some time and located right on the river.
