Food scene
The Bridge Bakery and Canteen is a local favourite. It has delicious coffees and huge pastries for breakfast, followed by tasty lunches and some nights of the week a supper club.
There is a lovely river walk around Langport and The Bridge Canteen is halfway so the perfect stop off!
Dogs are welcome to sit outside by the river.
It has some books and toys for children and a highchair for babies.

The Bridge Langport

Pips Railway Carriage Cafe is a place you must visit!
You can choose to sit in a cosy themed private booth on the train carriage, aboard the double decker bus (with beautiful views from upstairs), in the plant filled marquee or outside in the garden. In the garden are two mini double decker buses for children to play on and a sandpit. Both are a huge hit with our children!
The food is delicious. Mostly local, homegrown and organic it really is some of the tastiest food around. Also their cake selection is amazing.
Alongside the cafe is a big farm shop with all sorts of lovely things inside including homemade scotch eggs, fruit an veg, plants and a refill room to stock up on essentials plastic free.
Make sure you book in advance on their website if you would like to sit inside (especially in a booth) as they book up quickly!

Pip’s Railway Carriage Cafe
Pips Railway Carriage Cafe is a place you must visit!
You can choose to sit in a cosy themed private booth on the train carriage, aboard the double decker bus (with beautiful views from upstairs), in the plant filled marquee or outside in the garden. In the garden are two mini double decker buses for children to play on and a sandpit. Both are a huge hit with our children!

The Barrington Boar is a restaurant more than a pub. I would recommend booking there for a special dinner rather than just popping in for a drink. It has a cosy countryside atmosphere and some of the best food in our local area. It is on the pricier side, but well worth it.

Barrington Boar
The Barrington Boar is a restaurant more than a pub. I would recommend booking there for a special dinner rather than just popping in for a drink. It has a cosy countryside atmosphere and some of the best food in our local area. It is on the pricier side, but well worth it.
Make sure to book in advance as it books up quickly!

Frogmary Green Farm is a great place to visit. You can take a picnic and walk around the beautiful lake and spot the ducks and geese, or get something to eat at the on-site Farm and Field Cafe. You will find some huge and pretty special cakes and treats in there! Delicious coffees and lunches too.

HOLM Somerset
28 Saint James's StreetHOLM is a new restaurant in the village of South Petherton.
Even though it is new to the area, it has quickly become a favourite here. It has a great atmosphere and the food is some of the best. Every mouthful is a treat !

The Lime Kiln Inn
The Lime Kiln is a great place to go for supper or Sunday lunch with the whole family. It is big and spacious and we always feel comfortable taking out children here.
The atmosphere is always good and the food tasty.

Sightseeing
A magical place to visit whilst you are in Somerset.
Take a picnic and treat your leg muscles to a walk up this very steep hill to visit the Tor. There is such a special and indescribable feeling that comes with being in Glastonbury.
At the bottom of the Tor there is the Chalice Well where a natural spring gently pours out of the wall - take a bottle with you and collect some water - it is so high in iron you will taste it!

Glastonbury Tor
A magical place to visit whilst you are in Somerset.

Glastonbury is one of my favourite places to visit.

You can visit the farm shop first to choose some delicious local cider or apple juice and then wander over the road to Burrow Hill and enjoy the views from the top.
Every Saturday through the Summer season, you can visit the cider farm and enjoy some tasty food, cider (of course!) and music. You are also welcome to take a picnic and sit in the orchard underneath the blossom.
A lovely day out ! Open 10-5 every Saturday April - August/September.

Mark Melbourne is now making the full range of pots available and you can go over and visit the shop and gallery to see his hard and skilled work on display. The Pottery is just across the road from Forge Cottage - a 1 minute walk!

City/town information
Langport is a fun and friendly little town.
It has some great cafes including Art Tea Zen and The Bridge Bakery and Canteen. There are also some lovely gift and homeware shops such as Florin, House14 and Eustace and Arthur.
Black Sheep Butchers is near to the car park and alongside selling great local meat, it also has a great selection of fruit and veg.
Little Bakery is a few doors down and they make delicious sourdough, cakes, sausage rolls and take away coffees.
There are many hairdressers and barbers in Langport, along with a good sized Tesco and a petrol station.
Just behind the high street is the River Parrett. You can take a scenic loop walk around the river - which is perfect for a dog walk - or if you are feeling adventurous you can paddle board, canoe or wild swim!
The Bridge Bakery is half way around the loop walk so that is handy for a drink and a snack en route.
Also an interesting place to visit is Shakespeare Glass. Here they often do glass blowing demonstrations that you can watch and they have a great gift shop full of things which have been handmade by local artists and makers.
