Great outdoors town, no boardwalk, no high-rises, lots of nature.
Kill Devil Hills has the most restaurants of any city on the OBX. Hamburger Alley is right smack dab in the middle of the action. It's a great place to eat, but don't forget to explore Nags Head and Kitty Hawk for great food destinations as well.

Sightseeing
About an hour south of us is the amazing Cape Hatteras lighthouse. It's definitely worth the picturesque drive and the walk up to the top for the views.
Manteo is a lovely place to walk around and see quaint shops, and it's the home of the Elizabeth II, a replica of the ship settlers used to sail here from England. It's the home of the lost colony, and the nightly live production is offered throughout the summer.

Colington Road is up and running with walking and bike paths
The speed limit is 35 for all of Colington Road except as you get close to the Harbour, it switches to 25!!! Watch out for that change; it's new to us too. The neighborhood speed limit is also 25. Watch out for bikes and pedestrians.

The main drag -- we call it the "big road" -- gets crowded.
The "beach road" is slower, but in some cases, can be faster on certain days. BUT the speed limit is 35, so be careful! Our local law enforcement loves to enforce the speeding laws.
AND WATCH OUT for those crosswalks. NC law gives the pedestrians the right-of-way in all crosswalks.
