This is a little further than Goldwater, but only three more minutes. This is my favorite lake in the area. My kids climb on all the boulders and love it here. There is a big wide open park too. You could spend all day here relaxing if you wanted to. There is a disc golf area here too, but I haven't played it yet.

Watson Lake Park
3101 Watson Lake Park RdThis is a little further than Goldwater, but only three more minutes. This is my favorite lake in the area. My kids climb on all the boulders and love it here. There is a big wide open park too. You could spend all day here relaxing if you wanted to. There is a disc golf area here too, but I haven't played it yet.
Okay, I know, this is quite a few lakes, but you did come to stay at the Adventure Cabin. You are 18 minutes away, and if you have to go to Costco, you'll be right by this lake. Three reasons I list this place. One, there is a seasonal waterfall that is cool whether it is flowing or not. My kids like to climb it when it's dry. Two, the hiking trail around the lake is really pretty and three, there is gold panning at the creek. This is the lake I visit the most with my kids.

Okay, I know, this is quite a few lakes, but you did come to stay at the Adventure Cabin. You are 18 minutes away, and if you have to go to Costco, you'll be right by this lake. This trails are well marked and you can go for a long hike or short hike because there are so many options. It is popular, so you won't be alone here, but it's a solid choice for a hiking area.

It's cheap. You won't be getting the Same Diego Zoo, but you won't be paying for it either. I've taken my kids and they've been to several zoos that are bigger, but they still liked this place.

I really like this place for Mexican fare. It's not fancy or anything, just good food. I always get the taco that's served on fry bread. I have to look at the menu every time to remember what it's called, but it's good.

I'm a little hesitant to add this place, because it's just a fast food dive type place, but I go here all the time. The street tacos are great. My middle child always gets the fish tacos. When you order, ask for the carrots. They are pickled, spicy and hard to beat. They have Coke in the bottle too. Try it if you are brave and willing to dive into some cheap food.

They have the best apple fritter you will ever have. I had one that was warm and fresh out of fryer once and it was awesome, so occasionally I'll ask them to heat one up, and they'll do it, but I'm a regular. If you are nice, they would probably do it for you too.

414 W Goodwin StThey have the best apple fritter you will ever have. I had one that was warm and fresh out of fryer once and it was awesome, so occasionally I'll ask them to heat one up, and they'll do it, but I'm a regular. If you are nice, they would probably do it for you too.
I'm not a drinker, but I enjoyed this place. Mead is made from honey, so much of it has a sweetness to it. They have a sampler deal that we tried, and I don't think there was a bad one in the mix. It's also on the square, so check out the other places around here.

120 W Gurley StI'm not a drinker, but I enjoyed this place. Mead is made from honey, so much of it has a sweetness to it. They have a sampler deal that we tried, and I don't think there was a bad one in the mix. It's also on the square, so check out the other places around here.
Easy and close
If you are here, you might as well walk down to this park. It will be like going back in time. They have one of those old metal slides from 50 years ago and a merry-go-round. If you thought all of those had been scrapped and dismantled because of all the injuries, you are right, but somehow this one survived.

It's right there. I'm not sure if the hiking trails in the neighborhood connect with this, but my friends who stayed here would always start walking up Zuni and they found some cool wildlife.
