Very popular this is a great place for waffles and wraps. Great vegetarian selections. Not the cheapest but large beautiful presented fresh food. We had to ask for a doggy bag!

A five minute drive just up the road from The Milestone. Excellent home baking. Afternoon teas. Morning coffee and light lunches. It’s where I always take my mum!

Catch the King Harry Ferry ( 10 -15 min drive) over to St Just in Roseland. The tea rooms is a wonderful place to stop with great walks around.

I use Sabzi all the time for a great grab and go picnic lunch. Or I order a large supper box to feed two of us with some cold meats. Deliveroo will deliver. Or pick up in Truro. Their Instagram gives you the daily salads

Now known as Bread & Butter this is one of Truro’s hidden gems. Just up from the museum they have a delightful garden. Or if you prefer indoor seating or takeout. I recommend the pancakes

Gastro Pub in the centre of Truro. Parking is extremely limited so you are best to park in one of the city’s car parks ( the nearest would be the shoppers car park at the bottom of Mitchell hill.
Or leave the car behind and get the bus into Truro. From the bus station, turn right (you will see The Old Ale House at the end of the road). Upon reaching the end of this road turn left, cross the zebra crossing and take the right hand fork, going past The Aga Shop. When you reach an offset crossroads turn right (a few lovely antique shops along this road). At the crossroads (with traffic lights), go straight over and up the hill. The Rising Sun is a little way up the hill on your left.

Mitchell HillGastro Pub in the centre of Truro. Parking is extremely limited so you are best to park in one of the city’s car parks ( the nearest would be the shoppers car park at the bottom of Mitchell hill.
Or leave the car behind and get the bus into Truro. From the bus station, turn right (you will see The Old Ale House at the end of the road). Upon reaching the end of this road turn left, cross the zebra crossing and take the right hand fork, going past The Aga Shop. The Rising Sun is a little way up the hill on your left.

There’s a free car park nearby or if you are more energetic the stroll from Truro city centre down to Malpas and back is a beautiful walk all along the river with this as a great stop off point to refresh and revive!

If you are exploring the Roseland Peninsula for the day then the Roseland garden centre is a must to get a great coffee and cake/lunch. We often have a coffee then take our cakes to the nearby Carne or Pendower beach.

Right down in Charlestown ( 30 min drive ) harbour this is outdoor seating only and is an amazing BBQ shack selling amazing food. Charlestown is a great place to visit for the many restaurants, cafes and bars. They are all good.

Right down in Charlestown ( 30 min drive ) harbour this is outdoor seating only and is an amazing BBQ shack selling amazing food. Charlestown is a great place to visit for the many restaurants, cafes and bars. They are all good.
Grounded is an independent cafe in Truro. It's very tiny with only 3 or 4 tables inside. If you're fortunate enough to get a space you won't be disappointed. I recommend them for breakfast and great coffee!

Newquay RoadI often recommend that guests visit here ( it's right next door to Waitrose, sharing a car park with them) as a great place to buy Cornish produce and gifts. They have a lovely cafe where you can get a great breakfast or lunch. They have an amazing deli counter, perfect for picking up a picnic once you have filled up on your full Cornish! You can also buy the Cornishware that I have at The Milestone.
