Go antiquing at AG, shop for a rodeo outfit at Emerson Rose, grab souvenirs and home goods at Jubilee, something for the men in your life at Manready Mercantile (they also have a make-your-own candle bar - make reservations in advance!), and fuel it all with an iced latte from Boomtown and a breakfast sandwich from the rooftop at Harold’s. Grab ice cream from Jeni’s or Sweet Bribery to end the afternoon. You can’t go wrong here!

I would be remiss not to mention the 3rd (?) biggest mall in the country in a shopping highlight, so here it is. There’s an ice skating rink and every retail store (luxury and otherwise) under the sun. If you came to town to get in some retail therapy, this is the place for you to spend an afternoon; it’s definitely something to see (along with the famous Water Wall nearby) if you have a longer stay or want to kill a few hours. Uber or make a parking plan ahead of time or you’ll be wandering aimlessly on the wrong one-way streets for far too long.

If you like sushi, you’ll love Ume. If you don’t like sushi, Ume will make you fall in love with sushi. This restaurant (sister to MF in the museum district) is not cheap, but not to be missed - truly falls among the top 5 meals of my life. If you’re prepared for the high price tag, get the signature Otoro tuna and the A5 Waygu Tartare and thank me later.

With cheap drinks, no-frills fire pits in metal trash cans, live bluegrass & folk music on the outdoor stage on Fridays, and live chickens running around most of the time, this place is one you won’t soon forget. Wear some jeans and sneakers and you’ll fit right in (it’s walkable from the house!)
