A visit to Murphy and the Smoky Mountains is all about the mountain experience. Murphy is a unique, hidden gem with people as diverse as the shopping. Within an hour’s drive, you’ll find several of our other favorite towns, including Helen and Blue Ridge, GA, Bryson City, Franklin, and Robbinsville, NC where you could drive or ride our favorite track – The Tail of the Dragon, and return to Murphy via the Cherohala Skyway with numerous scenic stops along the way. Hiawassee is a lake-town a half hour away with watersports and more shopping. Historic Hayesville and Brasstown are about a 20-minute drive, and near Brasstown, you will find the John C. Campbell Folk Art School.

Food scene
Murphy's Chophouse is a reasonably priced fine-dining experience with live music and delicious selections that will please everyone at your table. We love this spot for date-night, but it's perfect for meeting friends and enjoying an evening out together.

Chevelle's is a fun bar & grill that has great food and karaoke to entertain for hours. Nightly specials keep the locals coming in several nights each week. Everyone has been so friendly here, it's always a welcoming spot.

Sightseeing
We have never been casino people, but went to visit the Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino in Murphy, just 10 minutes from our cabin, and my gosh, what an inviting place! There's much more to this entertainment spot than gambling. An oversized arcade greets you near the entrance, with bowling, pool tables, and vintage video games that are wall-sized. And as of the last 2 years, it's all smoke-free! This place has enough to fill an evening with fun, laughs and maybe a little luck! There's a Moe's, Starbucks (of course) a nice restaurant called "The Landing" and Nathan's Hot Dogs as well as Earl of Sandwich. Plenty to keep you satisfied.
