Breakfast

Grab a burrito to go and have a picnic at the beach. I like to park off Moonstone Beach drive and watch the ocean waves while I chow down an Al Pastor burrito. The red salsa is pretty hot. So go with the mild green salsa.
The taco truck is in the bank parking lot on the weekends. The beans and cilantro are what make the burrito taste so good. I have tried calling in the order and no one answers the phone. So, you have to wait in line.

Sightseeing

The boardwalk along Moonstone Beach is 1.4 miles long. There are many spots to park with scenic views. It's a nice detour to take on the way back from Hearst winery back to Paso.

Wine tasting

Hearst Ranch Winery tasting room at San Simeon beach. The tasting room has tables inside and outside on the beach. Wine tasting is $25 per person. There's a food truck on the weekends. The burger is stacked with three thin beef patties. The old Sebastian’s building is currently being remodeled and is planned to be a deli. Tip: Allow 2 hours from Paso to Hearst winery if you want to stop and shop/eat in Cambria before the winery. Otherwise it takes 50 minutes from Paso to Hearst Ranch winery with no stops. FROM PASO --> 36 mins to Cambria --> 15 minutes to San Simeon Hearst Ranch Winery From Paso, take Hwy 46 West to Hwy 1. Photo opportunity: There is a panoramic view at the summit of Hwy 46 where there's a spectacular view where the mountains meets the ocean. After the photo stop, continue heading to Cambria. There is a large parking lot next to public restrooms behind the chevron gas station. Allow 15 mins to wait in line to order a Boni's taco truck item (worth the wait), then shop around for 15 minutes while you wait for your food truck item to go. At the winery: no outside food or drinks are allowed. Hence, allow between 2 to 2.5 hours before the seated tasting reservation time to allow room to stop for photos or eat/sight see in Cambria. If you liked the Julia Rose at Hearst ranch I found the same bottle at Albertson’s for $10 less than the winery. The 2021 vintage is better tasting than the 2020 vintage (as of Feb 2022).
