Ipanema Beach.
That's where I live. It is frequented by a mix of Cariocas, Brazilian tourists and some International tourists.
Very crowded, the place between Posto 9 and 10 is where the Carioca youth usually go.
Between Posto 8 and 9, it is the place for LGBT people and their friends go.
In Posto 7, there is a very beautiful place called Arpoador, the rocks that separate Ipanema from Copacabana, frequented by surfers, it is a very nice point to see the sunset in Ipanema. Just take care with your belongings and the opportunistic kids.

레블론 비치
Leblon Beach.
Separated from Ipanema by Jardim de Ala and a canal that connects the Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas to the Atlantic, Leblon Beach is the mile long exclusive beach area at the base of the twin peaks Dois Irmaos.
Less touristic and less crowded, this is my preferred beach in Zona Sul. Frequented mostly by locals and families, you should stay at Posto 11 height, more specifically at Joao's Tent (Barraca do João). Besides being the most visited leisure area of the city, the lagoon has the largest gastronomic center outdoor Latin America, along it there are about 25 kiosks offering different dining options for the day and also at night where visitors can enjoy including lots of live music.

Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon
Frequented by Locals; Very nice place to rest and admire Rio de Janeiro Nature views and landscapes.
Around the Lagoa there is a bike lane 7 km, which provides a great space for physical activities. Besides being the most visited leisure area of the city, the lagoon has the largest gastronomic center outdoor Latin America, along it there are about 25 kiosks offering different dining options for the day and also at night where visitors can enjoy including lots of live music.
Copacabana Beach.
Prefer the beaches in Ipanema and Leblon, next posts.
Although I recommend you to visit Copacabana once and drink a Brahma Chopp (local Brazilian draught beer - although it is not a draft beer, technically, as it is made in different local unpasteurized procedure) in the sidewalk kiosks, you should prefer the beaches in Ipanema and Leblon.
Copacabana is too much touristic, there will be a lot of people interrupting you and trying to sell you all kind of stuffs, and sadly, there may be some opportunistic steelers. Avoid the restaurants in Copacana also, except for the bars in the Rua Bolívar, which usually have good appetizers and cold beers/chopps.

The best way to get there is by Uber or taxi (as I always say, I recommend Uber!), up to the square plaza of the train station.
I do not recommend the touristics vans and cars that offer to take to the statue. Therefore, book the train and enjoy the ride and the view, up to the Christ!

You have to eat their Potato salad while you wait their desided Pork Fillet Mignon or Rostbeef Sandwiches with pineapple, yes, believe it, they put pineapple in the sandwich. If you didn't like de idea, you can ask them to prepare without it, or you can remove by yourself :)
