Favourite Restaurants
The following restaurants are personal favourites. Some are in Begur and others further afield.
Pizzeta is only open in the evenings, we recommend you make a reservation as it's very popular with tourists and locals. The food to date is consistently good offering great pizzas, pastas , fish and meat. The desserts are great too! Early evening it's popular with families where you can choose to dine inside or in a lovely garden. The staff are very friendly and helpful in our experience.

This restaurant is for meat eaters! Good steaks, duck etc cooked on the grill. They do non meat dishes also but the emphasis is on meat. Located next to the church in an old historic building in the centre of the town.

A lovely restaurant in the nearby town of Pals. Friendly staff, very welcoming. We recommend have a Menu del Dia, from Monday to Friday, very good value for tasty food. Make a day of it by wandering around the beautiful, ancient town first.

Mooma restaurant is located in an apple orchard in the countryside between Begur and Girona (about 20 mins drive from Begur). We really enjoy the food there, the setting is lovely and the staff welcoming. As well as the delicious food you can book a tour of the orchard and learn about the process of making cider, juice and other apple based products..... very interesting and tours are conducted in different languages. There is also a small farm shop where you can buy everything apples....juice, gin, brandy, vinegar and, of course, cider!

Those of you who bring your four-legged family may be interested in visiting La Gola beach which is dog-friendly. On the approach to the beach is the Restaurant Ter-Mar. It's not a posh restaurant but the food is tasty, the staff welcoming and they don't mind you having your dog with you out on the terrace as long as it's tied up/well behaved.

Those of you who bring your four-legged family may be interested in visiting La Gola beach which is dog-friendly. On the approach to the beach is the Restaurant Ter-Mar. Recer de la Mar
This is our favourite restaurant at Sa Riera. Ok, it's not on the beach, or have a particularly great view, but the food is great. There are usually foods on the menu that we've never seen in other locals restaurants....dim sum for example. If you live in a city this might be commonplace for you, but in this area, it's unusual. We welcome the difference.
Staff are friendly and efficient. You need to book.
Beaches
There are so many beautiful beaches in this area, you'd find it difficult to find a bad one! Here are a few of our personal favourites.
This is the nearest beach to The Artists House. We can walk there in 10mins, a bit longer returning as it's uphill.
Sa Riera is a lovely sandy beach with a smaller beach on the right side. This smaller beach is ideal for young children as the sea is safer.
During the summer months there are restaurants, bars, holiday shop and a wonderful chiringuito (beach bar).
Other facilities include showers, toilet, lifeguard, Red Cross and nearby paid parking. Please note that if you want to drive there, parking spaces get taken quickly, so go early!

This beach is a 3.5km long sandy beach, approximately 70 m wide. It's a favourite with families as often, in the summer there are play facilities for children. Part of the beach, Platja Gran is nudist. Other facilities include showers, toilets, a lifeguard and tourist information point.
When the Levante or Tramontana winds blow they are good enough for windsurfing, surfing and kite surfing.
There are restaurants and chiringuitos available for food and drinks.

Mas Auró is located about an hour's drive from Begur. You can book a tour of the estate to learn how the olives are grown and produced. At the end of the tour you have a tasting with an expert. It's a wonderful experience for foodies. You can also buy their award winning oils from their shop. Highly recommended!
