10 minutes away is the historic Hunter River port village of Morpeth, which is celebrating 200 years in 2021 with a daily lighting of its bridge until 10:30pm.
Stroll down the Swan Street and its side roads to find boutique shops and restaurants. Some recommendations include:

- Commercial Hotel
- Morpeth Woodfire Pizza and Indian (if you sit in the back garden you'll share the patio with a friendly family of large lizards)
