Nature

One of my earliest memories of life take place here, sharing a picnic with my family in a place that for centuries has been such an amusement area for locals. The caves are stunning and there’s enough infrastructure for kids and adults to go the the first stage of them which is breathtaking. If you are more adventurous you can go further inside where guides and info is provided for those interested. Perfect for families, groups and solo travelers. Entrance and services are not expensive.

Sightseeing

This is a very iconic space in the city. The Guadalupe’s pedestrian street (Andador de Guadalupe or Real de Guadalupe) leads to this beautiful church at the top of a hill that curiously was used by the first Spanish settlers as the gallows location. Today, luckily, it's a nice place to walk with a beautiful view of the city!!

Founded by Frans Blom and Gertrude Duby is a must to learn about the indigenous people of the Lacandon Jungle. It also has a very interesting library and hosts expositions and concerts regularly.

El Cerrito de San Cristóbal is such a historic space in town! There, took place many battles in independence times, reason for the original church to be destroyed in fire. A great place for a little challenge if you want to do some jogging, as there is a circuit just behind the church. But also some machines to do other physical work. If you feel into something more specific to the south of our Cerrito there are facilities with soccer fields, basketball, baseball… all free entrance. If you in groups or alone the place is great to have some morning food with fresh air in a peaceful and friendly environment. Several parking areas are available, but you can easily walk from downtown to there, just go up the endless stairs :) A great view of the city awaits for you, totally worth it!!
