https://www.deanscourt.org/ An elegant historic house set in ancient gardens, a stone’s throw from the centre of Wimborne Minster in Dorset. Run by William and Ali Hanham, Deans Court has been in William's family for nearly 500 years. Today the estate hosts a venue for weddings and events, a vintage lifestyle shop, health-food café and holiday cottages & houses. Pop-up social suppers, open-air theatres, courses and workshops, tours, beekeeping, fly-fishing, rearing sheep and growing organic vegetables in a walled kitchen garden - are just some of the other activities taking place here - all of them under the ethos of living sustainably within a heritage environment in the 21st century.

https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/kingston-lacy Discover Kingston Lacy, an opulent family home built to resemble a Venetian Palace. There’s plenty to see, from spectacular artworks to beautiful landscapes. Enjoy a summer picnic on the south lawn, or let little visitors run wild in nearby play areas. Wander through the Japanese Garden to the Kitchen Garden, where Queen Victoria once sent her own gardeners for inspiration. Or explore the vast 8,500 acres of estate, featuring Iron Age hill forts, colourful heathland, water meadows and the world’s oldest pedigree herd of Red Ruby Devon cattle. Kingston Lacy has a dynamic history. Over centuries the Bankes family built, altered, embellished and rebuilt their house. Their wealth came from extensive estates and profitable marriages, including inherited wealth from Caribbean plantations supported by the Atlantic slave trade. William John Bankes created the house we know today. Forced into exile for homosexuality, he lived in Venice and remotely remodelled the house, as well as creating lavishly decorated interiors such as the spectacular Spanish Room. Displaying remarkable paintings by renowned artists like Rubens, Van Dyck, Titian and Brueghel, the house is a miniature ‘national gallery’ for the South West, and includes Bankes' collection of ancient Egyptian artefacts, the largest private collection in the UK.

Mudeford Quay, at the entrance to Christchurch Harbour, is a beautiful and popular destination and has spectacular views out to sea and of Christchurch town. At the Quay you will find several places to eat and drink as well as areas to enjoy a picnic. It is a great place to take a gentle stroll next to the waters edge and watch all the busy activities taking place. For children and families, crabbing is very popular from the quayside. You can buy nets, buckets and bait from the shop at the end of the Quay if you don't have your own. There is also a children's play area to let the little ones burn off some energy. The Quay is a popular sailing and windsurfing destination throughout the year and holds a number of dinghy championships. Many other events are also held here including seafood festivals, fun days, arts festivals and the annual Lifeboat Week. The beaches at Avon and Friars Cliff are easily accessed from the Quay via Gundimore Promenade which extends eastwards from the Quay. Avon Beach is just a short walk away and provides more choices for eating and drinking, as well as a lovely sandy beach. If you continue walking past Avon Beach, you will reach Friars Cliff beach, Steamer Point Nature Reserve and the grounds of Highcliffe Castle - once home to Mr Harry Gordon Selfridge. If you want to visit Mudeford Sandbank across the water, walkers and cyclists can take a ferry. Over on the Sandbank, enjoy the glorious golden sandy beach, see the exclusive beach huts (the most expensive in the UK), have something to eat at the beachside cafe or explore further into Hengistbury Head nature reserve.

The Curlew has had a varied and interesting history. The building was constructed in the 1800's and served as a farm mostly producing root vegetables. After gaining its license, the building became Mulligan's fish restaurant, then a themed pub and was more recently called The Manor before settling on being named after the wading bird - the Curlew. https://www.vintageinn.co.uk/restaurants/south-west/thecurlewbournemouth?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=gmb
