The art deco capital of the world, Napier was rebuilt after the 1931 earthquake in the art deco style. Every year in February the town celebrates with an art deco weekend. Napier is set on the coast line where there is access to many attractions such as the national aquarium, Bay Skate, the sunken gardens along the pathway running along the beach.
