Esco serve locally roasted Clandestino coffee alongside a modern and fresh breakfast menu including croissants, acai bowls, brekky salad, omelettes and eggs benedict. Frenchies Brasserie Located just across from the Noosa River, on Thomas Street Frenchies specialises in traditional French cuisine. Book in before sunset to view the glistening water and savour dishes such as prawns with garlic butter, eye fillet steak with signature sauce and souflle for dessert. Gusto’s Gustos is a Noosa institution. Relax in the restaurants beautiful decor, with riverfront views and enjoy their modern European style bistro menu with a focus on locally sourced, top quality produce. Noosa Waterfront For a special occasion, Noosa Waterfront offers modern Italian dining overlooking a beautiful inlet on the Noosa River, again with a focus on local, seasonal produce. 250 Grammi Located in the Thomas Street precinct, this is authentic Italian, with a lot of different dishes to be shared, like an Italian Sunday lunch with family or friends. Noosa Boathouse Diagonally across from the resort, this is absolute waterfront dining with the option of the restaurant for lunch or dinner and the sunset bar for relaxing sundowner drinks. On Friday evenings, join the locals for free live music on the lawns outside the Boathouse - bring your own drinks and picnic or order from their take away outlet. Sum Yung Guys This local favourite became a part of the Noosaville neighbourhood in mid 2021 in their newly fitted out and very funky venue on Weyba Road. The menu is modern Asian, and crafted to share with good company. Think Haramasa kingfish, green scud, coconut and laksa oil or BBQ Bangalow pork, sour apple and cucumber relish, and a drink list packed with sakes, spritzes and smash hit cocktails. Whisky Boy Overlooking the Noosa foreshore, and just a short stroll from the resort, Whisky Boy is the perfect spot for a relaxing drink. Whisky is their specialty, with tasting flights on offer, and they also have a large selection of gin, beer and wine. Stay on to enjoy the dinner menu created by these hospitality professionals. Zachary’s on the River Is a family-friendly pizza restaurant offering a mix of traditional and more modern topped pizzas. We love to take away and sit across the road, on the banks of the Noosa River for either lunch or sunset dinner.

Coffee Roasters

Our favourite coffee roasters located within and near Noosaville. Clandestino Clandestino opened their flagship store back in 2011 in Noosaville’s industrial neighbourhood. It’s a space with great coffee, good vibes and baristas keen to answer all your questions. In there, they built the first brew bar on the Sunshine Coast. It has offered syphons, clovers, pour overs, batch brew, cold drip, cold brew, chemex and most recently their newest beverage, nitro brew coffee on tap. You can also choose from a selection of elixirs developed in-house in collaboration with Ayurveda practitioners from Yukti. Clandestino have retail shelves stocked with brewing equipment to suit any coffee lover’s needs. In the same complex by the name of Bel Mondo’s you’lll find a bakery, organic grocery and butcher. Flying West coffee roasters What once began as just a small operation selling coffee at the world famous Eumundi Markets, in September 2018, Flying West Roasters opened their roastery in Doonan, a 10 minute drive from Sandy Beach, to the public alongside their café. The space, which was once known as the ‘Tender Shed’, has recently been renovated into an ambient, modern, urbanised café. The style has an industrial edge softened with hanging plants, chill-set music and timber furnishings. They serve wholesome food alongside their menu of specialty coffee’s from single origins to a unique range of blends. Little Cove Coffee Co. Little Cove Coffee is named after the local surfing reserve, that produces waves of perfection, which is what this team strive for in their roasted coffee. Roasted onsite and overlooking the Weyba River in Noosaville, their cafe boasts top quality Arabica bean coffee, tea and tasty food. Puncheur As the owners of this establishment say themselves this is a ‘cool pumping cafe’ located in Noosa Junction. This spot has lots of personality and the owners are very passionate about what they do. Beans are house roasted every single day, being sourced from Brazil, Colombia, Ethiopia, Costa Rica, Guatamala, PNG and Peru. They also serve delicious bagels, wraps and toasties making it perfect for breakfast or a light lunch too.

Day Trips from Sandy Beach

While there is so much to explore in Noosaville itself, we love to get out and explore our surrounding neighbourhoods. Here are our recommendations for a day out and about. The Sunshine Coast Coastal Strip Starting in Sunshine Beach the coastal drive along David Low Way is beautiful, beach side driving with pristine ocean views that stretch as far as the eye can see. As you head south from Sunshine Beach, you’ll pass through the coastal, quiet neighbourhoods of Sunrise Beach, Castaways Beach, Marcus Beach, Peregian Beach before arriving at Coolum. Just 13kms into the trip you’ll find the friendly beachside village of Peregian where you can enjoy the ambience and shade of the village square and experience the diverse range of clothing boutiques, furniture and gift shops, bakeries, cafes and restaurants. From there you can continue onto Coolum and hike Mt. Coolum. The walk is 1.6km return and will take you to Mt Coolum’s summit, at 550m, where you’ll enjoy 360 degree views of the Sunshine Coast and Hinterland. Following on from Coolum is the beautiful seaside town of Cotton Tree, fringed by the sandy banks of the Maroochy River to the north and the white silica beaches of the blue Pacific Ocean to the west. On the weekends, Cotton Tree comes alive with Sunday markets and a thriving al fresco cafe scene. Next door to Cotton Tree is bustling Moorochydore which, if you’re in need of some retail therapy, is home to Sunshine Plaza, the largest shopping centre in the region with over 220 specialty stores. Following David Low Way further south again you’ll arrive at Mooloolaba where the beach stretch is home to a bounty of cosmopolitan cafes, restaurants, and bars, or otherwise take a short stroll to the newly refurbished Wharf area, just a short wander away which has a number of Sunshine Coast locals favourite restaurants and bars to discover. From here you can turn back towards Noosaville and enjoy the drive home or continue south to visit Moffat Beach and Caloundra which reside on the cusp of the southern end of the Sunshine Coast. Here there’s plenty to do for kids big and small including playgrounds, micro breweries, the scenic Caloundra Coastal Walk, which stretches 25 kilometres from Golden Beach to Mooloolaba further north, or explore Pumicestone Passage. The passage, which is part of the Moreton Bay Marine Park, is a narrow, shallow estuary, made up of a system of tidal channels and sand banks and is the perfect place to explore on a stand-up paddleboard, kayak, catamaran or jet ski. The passage is also home around 24 species of migratory shorebird and 11 species of resident native shorebird. Pumicestone is recognised as one of the most important bird and marine habitats on the East Coast of Australia. Noosa National Park While the Noosa National Park features the spectacular coastal scenery of Noosa Headland, and nearby areas around Lake Weyba, Peregian and Coolum our favourite is the coastal walk in the Noosa Headlands area of the national park. While the park is surrounded by the developed areas of Noosa Heads and Sunshine Beach, this park is a wildlife sanctuary, protecting beautiful stands of eucalypt forest, woodland, melaleuca wetland, colourful wallum heathland and pockets of dense vine-strewn rainforest. You can either walk to the entrance of the park, from Sandy Beach Resort to the entrance of the park (approximately 5kms) or park your car in one of the car parks near by. At the entrance there’s a cute little kiosk where you can grab a coffee and a map if you need one. Picnic tables, electric barbecues, drinking water and public toilets are available. From here all you’ll need to know is keep the ocean on your left. The way in is the way out. If you decide to do the full walk through to Sunshine Beach it’s 5.4km each way. As you pass the pretty beaches of Boiling Pot and Tea Tree Bay, watch the waves below with surfer envy but also keep your eyes peeled on the treetops for koalas. Whilst on the walk hope to spot a dolphin or turtle and when in season, from June to November, it’s common to spot a whale. Tip. If you have children in strollers the park is paved all the way from the entrance to Dolphin Point and is just a perfect sunrise or sunset walk before heading back into Hastings Street for ice-cream at Happy Pops. Mary Cairn Cross Scenic Reserve The Mary Cairn Cross Scenic Reserve is a one hour drive from Sandy Beach Resort, and comprises of 55 hectares of subtropical rainforest overlooking the Glass House Mountains landscape. A remnant of the rainforests that once covered the Blackall Range, the reserve is a living museum of diverse plant and animal life. The walking tracks are open from 7am to 6pm and feature three tranquil and beautiful walks from 1.2 to 1.7km in length. Onsite is the Rainforest Discovery Centre, offering multi-sensory learning experiences and the Mountain View Café featuring spectacular views with indoor and outdoor seating. There is also an pen-space park with barbecues, picnic shelters, a playground and plenty of room for kids to play. Maleny, Montville and the Blackall Range Tourist Drive The Blackall Range Tourist Drive ( Route 23) is a very pretty, relaxing scenic route, winding it’s way through the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. The road takes you through a number of quiet little townships including Maleny and Montville, nestled up in the mountains, enjoying beautiful views of both the Coast and Hinterland. Rising up over 500 metres above sea level the hinterland air is cooler, the grass is greener and the local produce is fresh and tasty. There are plenty of places to visit including art galleries, boutique wineries, cafes, restaurants and microbreweries, rainforest walks, markets, antique shops and a cheese factory. Kondalilla Falls Circuit, Kondalilla National Park Just a 45 minute drive from Sandy Beach Resort, explore this beautiful walking track that leads from Kondalilla Falls down the escarpment into a lush rainforested valley then climbs up the ridge again to return. From the Kondalilla Falls car park, walk 100-metres downhill to a large grassed picnic area with barbecues. Follow the Picnic Creek circuit, walking through rainforest and open forest to a cool rock pool at the top of the falls. Continue on the Kondalilla Falls circuit, descending into lush rainforest as you walk down to the valley for the best waterfall view at the base of the falls. What goes down must come back up! As you climb the ridge, look for emergent bunya pines with their distinctive symmetrical dome shapes, dense stands of piccabeen palms and intriguing shapes of pink ash. There are over 300 stairs on the Kondalilla Falls circuit so you need to be reasonably fit, but the beauty and fresh clean air makes it worth the effort. Point Boreen, Habitat Noosa and the Everglades Boreen Point and Elanda Point in Habitat Noosa are the gateway to the upper Noosa River, the Noosa Everglades and the Great Sandy National Park. Habitat Noosa, uniquely located in the National Park along 500 meters of beachfront on Lake Cootharaba, is a short 5 minute boat ride from the Noosa Everglades. At Habitat Noosa you can hire water craft to explore the everglades solo, or you can book in on one of their tours including guided canoe or boat adventures. Following a morning exploring the everglades, either have lunch at the Habitat’s onsite microbrewery and bistro or head to the nearby, small township of Boreen Point which is also situated on Lake Cootharaba. This too is a perfect setting for sailing, kayaking and spotting an array of native wildlife including kangaroos and birds. Stay for dinner at the historic Apollonian Hotel. Built of hoop pine and cedar, surrounded by classic wide verandahs and fourteen foot ceilings, the old colonial hotel is a unique example of nineteenth century Queensland architecture and a great place to relax and listen to live music. For their upcoming entertainment listings check their website. Eumundi Markets The original Eumundi Markets, Australia’s largest artisan market, are open on Wednesdays from 8am to 2pm, and Saturdays from 7am to 2pm. The markets have an amazing vibe, with live music playing each day and over 100 artisan shops selling everything from handcrafted furniture, homewares, artworks, ceramics, fashion and jewellery. When you need a moment to rejuvinate, stop to have your palm read, treat yourself to a relaxing massage, or savour a bit to eat as there’s plenty of choice in the street food on offer from the super naughty to the organic and super healthy.
