If you need a break from all the amazing New Mexican food, or even if you don't, you should eat here. Beautiful trails from this campground along Big Tesuque Creek. Get there via Hyde Park Road, which is a scenic drive on the way to the ski basin and very convenient from where you're staying. It's a good 10 degrees cooler up there, no matter the time of year, so keep that in mind!

Georgia O'Keeffe owned part of this ranch, and you can book a tour or time slot for self-guided hikes. I recommend the walk to Chimney Rock, and visiting also gives you an excuse to take the short-ish scenic drive up to Abiquiu. Pre-booking definitely recommended. You can also arrange horseback rides, which is apparently really fun/pretty but I haven't done it.

I recommend the walk to Chimney Rock, and visiting also gives you an excuse to take the short-ish scenic drive up to Abiquiu. Pre-booking definitely recommended. You can also arrange horseback rides, which is apparently really fun/pretty but I haven't done it.
You may think you're overly familiar with her work, but it's satisfying to see it up close in this context. I believe reservations are required.

Feels obligatory to include! People are obsessed with this place, so if you like a trippy, immersive, Instagrammable experience, this may be up your alley (which is a pun because Meow Wolf is inside an old bowling alley). Reservations recommended.

Famous around the world as a pilgrimage site for Catholics, who come to sample some of the church's healing dirt, which you're allowed to gather from a hole in a back room. There's also a pretty good (I'm told) restaurant nearby, Rancho de Chimayo, so you can make an afternoon of it.
