Dupont is closer to Casa Kanuga, but Pisgah offers larger wilderness better suited to backpacking, campgrounds and spectacular views.

Only a 15 min drive from Casa Kanuga, what it lacks in size and elevation compared to Pisgah, it makes up for in utility. With an exceptional collection of waterfalls, rivers, swimming areas, and trails perfectly suited for running, mountain biking and horseback riding - it is a perfect recreational forest.
Centered around a 315 foot granite monolith rising above Lake Lure, the 6,800 acre park also encompasses a balancing rock formation, a 404 foot waterfall, and hiking trails. There is also a visitors center with family-friendly exhibits that include an educational walking trail and Animal Discovery Den. The actual Chimney Rock monolith offers stunning views of the area and is accessible not only by trail, but by a unique elevator built inside of the mountain.
