Capilano Suspension Bridge Park is great for sight-seeing with its famous suspension bridge over a picturesque river, and don't miss the tree walk; walkways suspended on massive, hundred-year-old trees are sure to be a hit with all ages and types of travelers. This park is gorgeous in the winter, when everything is lit-up and the huge pine trees are decorated all the way to the top- it boasts some of the world's largest Christmas trees! About 15 minutes by bus, 5 mins by car, 30 mins by foot to get there.

Walk the gorgeous 10 km coast of the Vancouver Seawall, which is part of the 28 km Seaside Greenway (the world's longest waterfront path), it's a MUST DO if you're visiting the Vancouver area! We recommend starting at Telus World of Science and going from there all the way around. You'll see Yaletown, Sunset Beach & English Bay beaches, the spinning chandelier under Granville Bridge, Third Beach, Coal Harbour, Stanley Park, False Creek, Kitsilano Beach Park, and so much more! You can rent a bike at Reckless Bike Store in Yaletown and cruise on the bike path the rest of the way. About 20 mins by car to get to Telus World of Science, and 40 mins by transit (we recommend taking the bus to Granville Street, then getting on the Skytrain to get to Main Street Science World Station quickly).

Cypress has stunning views and beautiful fairy lights strung across the mountain, these light up the trails for night skiing! If you're not visiting in winter, don't worry, there is zip-lining and tons of hiking to do around the mountain in other seasons. Only 25 minutes away by car. Note: unfortunately, it is not transit accessible, and takes too long to walk to. Your best bet if you don't have a car is to take an Uber there and back. As it is nearby in proximity (but not any bus/skytrain routes), the Uber should be quite affordable.

Wreck Beach is clothing optional (it's usually about 50/50 nude patrons, mostly elderly folks). It's a really fun place, great for swimming and quite clean. Take a 25-minute walk (or shorter drive) to the University of British Columbia (UBC) campus afterwards and check out the cool cafes, restaurants, and pubs- the campus is truly a an independent city in its own right (certainly is big enough to be one). About an hour and a half by transit, 50 minutes by car (traffic tends to be congested on this route).

This pristine beach is one of the city's best kept secrets! It's so gorgeous and the sand is so fine, always busy but never too crowded. Visit Pacific Spirit Regional Park nearby for some hiking or just to enjoy some shade under the trees in the hot summer. Jericho Beach is also less than a 20 min walk away- if you're visiting in October, late September, or early November, make sure to drop by Jericho beach at night to see the glowing phytoplankton! Spanish Banks Beach is about a 40-minute drive away, around an hour and 15 mins by transit.

The Chief, so called because its shape resembles that of an Indigenous Chief's face when seen from a distance, is famous for its views! There are three peaks, each with a more magnificent view than the last. In addition, taking the Sea to Sky Highway to get there is part of the breath-taking experience, as this stretch of road follows the coast the entire way there. Be warned, this is a very challenging hike and includes segments where one must use a chains secured to giant rock cliffs to climb to the next bit, but it is so worth it! It's about 40 mins to get there by car, which is currently the only way to reach The Chief.

Deep Cove is an amazing cute little town surrounded by gorgeous nature! You can hike up to Quarry Rock and take in the breathtaking views, it's only about an hour to get to the top. Make sure to stop by some of the awesome eateries in the town of Deep Cove after your hike, we recommend Honey Donuts & Goodies for an artisanal Canadian donut (try the maple and Canadian bacon flavour, it's a hit). Granville Island is small, but it has so much to see and do (and eat)! It's directly across from Downtown Vancouver. Go to the market and try the diverse foods available, everything from gluten-free brownies to sushi to perogies to artisanal pizza & burgers, this is truly a foodie's dream! Afterwards, you can go to Granville Island Brewery to check out the brewing process and try samples of craft beer, we recommend the 6-beer sampler as an affordable way to try the different types of beer. Also make sure to check out the small shops and Net Loft, especially if you are a fan of Indigenous Art, or any type of art, really. It's about 40 mins by bus to get there, and 20 mins by car. Wouldn't recommend walking. P.S. Make sure to take the Seabus into Vancouver after you'rve explored the island, it is affordable, takes you through the channel to Yaletown which is an amazing part of Vancouver to explore, and the experience is not to be missed! Alternatively, hit up Granville Island Boat Rentals and rent a canoe or kayak to sail independently through the channel, going all the way past English Bay to Stanley Park if your heart so desires!

Harrison Hot Springs is a great little town. Canoeing, kayaking, swimming in the lake, and hiking in the forest are great ways to stay cool in the summer, and a cute little beach that is never too crowded is just a short hike away. The natural hot springs at Harrison Hot Springs Resort will keep you warm in the winter! You don't have to be a guest of the resort to use the hot springs, there is a very reasonable entry fee to pop in for the day. There are tons of hotels and motels to choose from, and even camp grounds if you have an RV. Who knows, you may see Bigfoot here (this is Sasquatch turf, after all). About an hour and a half by car (no transit available).

Victoria has that old Canadian town charm with a European influence, but is big enough that it has plenty to offer. See the narrowest street in Canada in Victoria's China Town, visit the Royal BC Museum if you're into Indigenous history and art, and experience the enchanting Victoria Butterfly Gardens (which has much more than just butterflies, including poison dart frogs, turtles, carnivorous plants, and tropical birds such as flamingos). If you're looking for a more laid-back island-style escape, merely stroll the streets and seaside paths while eating some great gelato. If you are into hot springs with an amazing view, visit Oak Bay Beach Hotel (where you don't have to be a guest to use the hot springs or get a seaside massage). Of course, there are many things to do on Vancouver Island outside of Victoria, like taking in incredible nature in Nanaimo or doing a bucket-list hike: the West Coast Trail, which goes along the shoreline of the Island and can last multiple days (make sure to book ahead)! Don't forget about the Southern Gulf Islands (Salt Spring Island and Galiano Island are the main ones), which are very easy to get to from Victoria by ferry. Go with Salt Spring Island if you're craving more small-town charm and hand-crafted local cheese. Galiano would be the choice for nature-lovers who want to bike everywhere and make some local friends (the locals are so friendly)! The Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal, from where the ferries to Nanaimo, Bowen Island, and Sunshine Coast leave, are only 14 minutes by car and 50 minutes by transit from the house. The Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal, from which the ferries to Victoria, Salt Spring Island, and Galiano Island leave, is about 45 mins by car (and is not transit accessible). Always make sure to book ferries in advance, especially if you are taking your car on the ferry, as space is limited.

Ferries, Museum Tickets, Theatre Performances

Always book tickets in advance, this goes double for those travelling in large groups! Ferry tickets especially needs advance booking, since car spaces are limited.

Entrances by Donation, Transit , & Nature Days

Museums like the Vancouver Art Gallery have tickets by donation on Tuesdays, just make sure to book ahead (online). If you are taking transit like the SkyTrain or bus, all journeys starting after 6:30 p.m. on weekdays and all travel on weekends (Saturday, Sunday, and holidays) are a 1-Zone fare; this way, you don't have to pay for 2 or 3 Zones when going far, like to/from Downtown Vancouver. If you are looking for a budget-friendly way to experience all this region has to offer, try walking the Vancouver Seawall or going on one of the many North Vancouver hikes in this guidebook.
놓치면 후회하는 장소/활동

If you can only do 4 things while here, we recommend these!

Walk the Vancouver Seawall, you'll see every part of Vancouver along the way. Do either the Lynn Canyon Park hike (Baden Powell Trail, can be 7 hours long) or the Quarry Rock hike in Deep Cove (1-2 hours). Visit one of the mountains nearby, either Grouse, Cypress, or Seymour during the winter and visit West Vancouver or Spanish Banks beaches in the summer.

This home is very transit-friendly!

There is a bus station 3 minutes away from here, it takes you to Downtown Vancouver and many other locations! You should definitely take the ferry to and from Waterfront at least once, take the bus to the Lonsdale Quay to get there. The Canada Line and Skytrain are extremely well-connected, and both lines have stations where you would get off the bus in Downtown Vancouver (on Granville Street). Please note, if you do not have a Compass Card, you can use a credit card or coins to pay for the trip (no bills, must be exact change).
어린이와 함께하는 여행

Take transit to many kid-friendly destinations nearby!

Trains and buses have designated spots for strollers, making it easy to travel with kiddos even without a car. There are many kid-friendly things to do, from hiking, to beach days, to visiting the Telus World of Science for a very interactive trip! You shouldn't have any issues finding things to do with the little ones.
준비물

Comfortable walking shoes & hiking boots, & a credit card

Bring a credit card or some change to pay for the bus or other forms of transit (no bills, must be exact change), as you cannot buy Compass passes on a bus- they are available at SkyTrain stations, Canada Line stations, or some local drug stores. Bring comfortable walking shoes, best if they're waterproof as the weather can be unpredictable. Hiking boots are highly recommended for outdoor adventures, and winter gear such as warm boots, wool socks, snowshoes, etc. are a great idea in the colder months.
